As the title suggests. I have been thinking about getting my nose pierced for a while now but at 44 am I too old?

Fantastic well done! You can get some beautiful teeny sparkling studs for when you're able to safely change it.

TheBirdintheCave · 25/07/2025 18:09

Looks fab :) I got mine done at 21 and don’t intend on ever removing it. It’s just part of my face 😅

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 25/07/2025 18:32

Thank you both. @TheShadowOfTheWizarddoes it look big? I wanted to go pretty small so this one was not the standard one. It was the one you pay a bit more for.

Looks great to me! I have a tattoo on both wrists... I remember years ago wearing a watch on one wrist and a bangle on the other to cover both up. These days I have another tattoo on my actual hand (between my thumb and first finger) and my ears have nine piercings (when I remember to wear anything in them!) and no one bats an eyelid!

pinkyredrose · 25/07/2025 18:53

Looks fabulous Op! It does really suit you, it looks like it always been there. 😀

Thank you- you’re all so lovely

No. But it's annoying and gets all snotty.

Buxusmortus · 25/07/2025 19:28

Awful at any age.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 25/07/2025 20:31

No it looks great. I just mean you can get smaller if want it to be more discrete at times. Some beautiful nose jewels 😁

C10000 · 26/07/2025 00:40

I'm nearly 60 and have had a nose ring in for the last 20 years and it'll be in for the next 20 😊

Hushabyelullaby · 26/07/2025 00:53

I had mine done when I was 17 and I’m almost 50 and still have it. I’ve always loved it. As people are saying if you don’t like it then you can take it out. As for your age, I know people older who have it. It’s a personal choice, but you certainly wouldn’t look ‘too old’

I thought that’s what you meant. Sorry- still worrying ha ha. I’ll be glad when I can have the shorter bar. Just been thinking about what happens when you have a cold?

It looks great! I got mine done last year - I'm almost 58. It hasn't made a difference when having a cold at all. My granddaughters think I'm cool 😂

Yes I feel your worry. Stop 💖

Seventyeightyfour · 26/07/2025 06:44

It looks lovely, really suits your face 🙂 You may find people assume it's always been there and don't even mention it.

Once it's fully healed, you won't even feel it anymore even when you blow your nose.

bringonyourwreckingball · 26/07/2025 07:38

I had mine done at 48 - lawyer so fairly conservative work environment and no one has batted an eyelid. Most of the women said they wish they were brave enough. It hasn’t given me any trouble and I have no regrets

hoarahloux · 26/07/2025 16:54

It looks lovely. What kind of jewellery is it? ie is it a flat back, or an L shaped post?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 26/07/2025 19:44

It’s a flat back.

Thanks again for such lovely comments. I went to see my 84 year old mum earlier. She didn’t notice until I sat close to her then said marmite, have you had your nose pierced. I was like yes and she said ah. I was like does it look nice and she said yes it looks ok. She has such bad anxiety and even she was telling me I was worried over nothing. Love mums for making you feel better. Just like all of you!

I bought some of this for my DD (recommended on MN)

Base Labs Piercing Bump Treatment/Aftercare for Scar Removal | Healing & Soothing | Keloid Shrinking Drops for Ear & Nose with Essential Oils | 15ml

They always say with piercings to LITHA but , nose piercings are prone to bumps and my daughter does tend to give up on her piercings and let them heal up . (Admittedly some problems have been when she's had them caught at the hairdressers <ouch> )

I told her she needs to keep the piercing in for months and if she gets a bump to calm it down and ask the piercer if she needs to change anything .

Ears heal with no mark , but nostrils I don't know . ( I know the advice is get it done you can always take it out ).
My helix and tragus have been little gits but I keep a close eye on them , salt water if I need to otherwise just keep them clean and don;t fiddle ,
