Do you like this black maxi lace skirt ??

The last time I wore any skirt or any dress was in primary school or my wedding actually thinking that!
However I just got this lace long maxi skirt and while I love the look of it everyone in my family like DH or teen child telling me it's truly horrible I look like goth or old witch in it??
I'm so disappointed as I thought it would be great for hot summer days especially its essentially a mini skirt with a lace layer.
I'm 52yrs old,maybe it's too young style for tall hip models( I'm quite short)

I’m short and a bit goth-y so I ought to love it 😂 but I don’t. Never been keen on lace. Might work in full goth mode though with a black or burgundy top?

Definitely nothing goth about me, i just like the look, it's from sainsburys, they also had cream one, actually lots if shops selling it now. Oh well shame.

It’s hideous. I can’t think how that could ever look remotely nice. In the picture it looks desperate, and that’s on a ‘model’.

I don't like it, its the shorter bit underneath that looks odd to me.

The fact that it’s fashionable is pretty much the only positive thing I could say about it. It looks cheap and fussy.

I think it is the mini skirt lining that's the main problem. If it was fully lined it would look better I think.

It should either be fully lined or have the courage of your convictions and no lining.

It might be OK if it was fully lined, but I don't like it as it is.

As I say to my daughter when she shows me something she wants to wear as a 19 year old, well I wouldn't wear it myself but if you like it, and it fits, that's all that matters.

Exactly! The styling isn’t doing it any favours. With a white or black bodysuit style top and wedge heels, I think it would look great. It’s different and if you saw potential in it, shame you’re allowing yourself to be talked out of it ♥️

That's horrible. If it were in true Goth style, it would have been perfectly fine for anybody who likes that - but that just looks a scruffy mess.

M&S are doing a version of this skirt in white and black too. I think it would look good with a tighter vest/ cami and denim jacket with flat sandals. Wearsmymoney on instagram has recommended the white M&S one over the last couple of months. It's not my style but I can see how it could look good styled nicely .If you are short it's not going to look good with a baggy t-shirt.

I like it op. I have to ask, if you're 52, why on earth have you reached the "🖕 ill wear what I want" stage yet? I'm mid-40's and I reached that stage along with my friends about 5 years ago 🤣 join us, its fantastic!!!

I think if you have to ask, it's wrong for you. I'd never ask on here for opinions about my clothes and when I get negative opinions on anything I own and have posted as suggestions I just think it's the negative posters who've got no eye, not me.
