I know nothing about make-up - but want a light "no make-up" makeup look. I hate foundation. What else could work?

Tinted moisturiser? Though "miracle balms". I just want something to bring my skin to life a bit, on the days where i CBA with concealer/blush, etc. My skin tone is dark brown (think typical South Asian skin).

Any product recs?

Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint.

buzzheath · 04/04/2025 13:45

Thanks! is it good, as in, have you used it? I have no idea what shade to get...i assume just the shade closest to my skin colour?

I use a Rimmel Kind and Free skin tint foundation - a bit like a tinted moisturiser and I love it.

KRG500 · 04/04/2025 13:48

I love Trinny London BFF for this purpose!

I have used it. If you have a Space NK near you give them a ring to see if they have it in store and they will help shade match you. I am repurchasing it when I am near a Space NK.

Light fake tan

DeafLeppard · 04/04/2025 13:53

Erborian CC cream. They sell small tester sized tubes. It’s fab.

FedUpandEatingChocolate · 04/04/2025 13:53

I'm similar, can't stand the feeling of foundation!

I like The Ordinary serum foundation, I add it to my regular face moisturiser.

I also like Trinny BFFs. Feels so light on my skin, and the colour match is perfect.

Chanel complexion correcter is absolutely amazing!! Expensive but a little goes a long long way and lasts me ages! Stays on all day! X

Tinted moisturiser all the way

I was matched at SpaceNKgof the Lisa Eldridge one and was glad I was as it was different to what I would have chosen myself

I have also used and liked the Chanel one and Erborian

Thanks, urgghhh I am so bad at this. I never know what shade to get or whether I'm medium deep or deep or what. My skin is a bit lighter than Jameela Jamil's I guess

BB cream or a tinted moisturiser. Personally I like foundation as I think it just brings your whole look together if you are wearing other make up. You can get light coverage foundations.

I love it too but there is no coverage at all in the one that contains SPF. The one that doesn't contain SPF has a light coverage and is lovely. I had a brainwave and bought both to use together to get the coverage AND the SPF, but they pill terribly together. It's not just me that happened to either.

@buzzheathif there are any retailers near you with a Chanel counter, pop in. They will colour match you. John Lewis, selfridges and the like usually have the brands x

WithIcePlease · 04/04/2025 14:25

I'd have a look at cheaper brands too
I use Boots tinted moisturiser- think it's called city lights - for day to day

Also revolution pro cc perfecting skin tint - only 4 colours but adapt to your skin tone - a little more coverage than the boots one

I have nars tinted moisturiser and as it has more coverage, I use that when I want to look as if I have make a bit more effort

I also have the eborian which I find is less shiny than the above which I like sometimes

I also have Laura mercier oil free tinted moisturiser - for some reason randomly my face gets greasy (dk why at my age) and I only use that then

its2025 · 04/04/2025 14:34

I'm like you and dont normally wear make-up unless i'm going out somewhere.

I'm in my fifties and just starting wearing make up a bit more. I like the powder foundation from Laura Geller. Baked Balance-n-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation | Dermatologist-Approved Weightless Makeup for Mature Skin – Laura Geller Beauty

I wear a primer underneath and it seems to last pretty well.

I did try a few tinted moisturisers and found they all rubbed off on my clothes.

Baked Balance-n-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation

Our #1 weightless baked foundation made for mature skin! Dermatologist-approved for sensitive skin and rosacea.

For a budget friendly option I love l’oreal true match plumping serum, it has a good range of shades and is in boots/superdrug for testing.

TallulahBetty · 04/04/2025 14:40

The good news is that there are so many 'skin tints' about at the moment!

I have Loreal Glotion and Nyx Buttermelt Glaze, both are fab and do exactly what you're asking for.

DecafDodger · 04/04/2025 14:46

Erborian CC. Either cream or CC water. They only have a few shades so I mix the 2 lighter ones together to get a shade that works better for me.

I use a Rimmel Kind and Free skin tint foundation - a bit like a tinted moisturiser and I love it.

I use this too and it's great value for money and gives my face a lovely natural tint.

it's called "match 2 me" on their website.
