Trying on this dress—does it look too tight? Need some honest feedback!

Hi everyone! I’m trialing this dress, and I’d really appreciate your thoughts. I’m a bit unsure if it looks too tight on me, especially around the waist and hips.. Does it look okay, or should I size up? Thanks in advance for your advice! 😊

You look fab!

CarrieOnComplaining · 19/03/2025 14:12

As a hot weather dress I think it will be (and look) more comfortable in the size up, and not too big.

GooseberryBeret · 19/03/2025 14:26

What does it look like sideways if you relax? I know on me a dress like that would look nice from the front but side-on I’d need to be pulling in my abdominal muscles or it wouldn’t be flattering at all ! But maybe you’re not apple-shaped like me.

I’m not how I’ve managed to get through life without having to stare at people’s crotches, I can’t say I’ve ever noticed! It’s obviously a hobby of yours, just so long as you’re not taking photos!

The ‘thinly covered’ part of your post sounds completely creepy and weirdly specific, but I guess emphasises my earlier point about crotch-watching being a pastime of yours

By thinly covered, I mean only covered by a pair of knickers, with bare skin visible around your thigh tops, as opposed to being able to see the outline of someone's crotch in a pair of tight jeans.

You can pretend a person only ever gets to see this stuff if they are pervily looking for it, but I think we all know that it's not really true. Wearing skirts that short mean that at some point someone is going to see your knickers or your bum cheeks hanging out of them, whether they wanted to or not, frankly.

IkaBaar · 19/03/2025 14:37

I’d say it is too tight in places. If you can sew, get the next size up and adjust it so it fits perfectly. Otherwise you have a great figure so other dresses will be more flattering.

”…covered by a pair of knickers”; exactly! Covered! That is what knickers are for, to cover. And the OP did not invite comments about the length.

BobbyBiscuits · 19/03/2025 15:24

I think it looks cute, but if you're saying it might look tight it probably means it feels it. Though if the size up doesn't do your lovely small waist justice I'd stick with the smaller. It's meant to be fun and cute and spring like, and gives a good vibe for that.

You really are quite creepy.

I think you’ve just proved my point.

TheChosenTwo · 19/03/2025 19:01

It looks like it’s pulling around the stomach area but it also looks like it’s just a fitted dress - I like it and think it looks nice on you, not too short at all! Summer holiday dresses (which is what I might look at buying a dress like this for) should make you feel good and not too sweaty, as long as it didn’t feel uncomfortably tight on it’s fine.

TheChosenTwo · 19/03/2025 19:04

And actually now that I’ve gone back and looked again I don’t think it’s pulling at all where I first thought it was, it looks like it’s just the pattern on that row of flowers just has white etches cut out a bit to make them look a bit faded. I hope you got it!

glitterturd · 19/03/2025 19:10

Many women even young ones wear chub rub shorts underneath dresses now.

Devianinc · 19/03/2025 21:26

It’s not pulling anywhere, it’s not too tight on the legs and it fits great on top.

Azureshores · 19/03/2025 21:33

TwigletsAndRadishes · 19/03/2025 08:23

Well it looks fine if you don't mind all and sundry seeing your thinly covered crotch every time you move. That's not my thing, I've never done it myself and I don't really appreciate having to politely look away when presented with other people's crotches, but, hey, if you like that sort of attention then knock yourself out.

Given the length, the dress is too tight. If it were longer then it could be tight and it would matter less because there is plenty more fabric to ride up before we all have to see what you had for dinner.

Mary Whitehouse has joined the thread!

OP you look young and sexy! Enjoy it before your tits and arse are around your ankles (like mine)

I so wish I'd worn many more short dresses when I was younger and not been so self conscious - I look back at photos now and I'm like..."fucking hell, I was hot!" 🔥

KittenPause · 19/03/2025 21:35

Looks like a perfect fit on a perfect figure. Lovely dress too.

Gymbunny2025 · 19/03/2025 21:37

It looks like it fits your boobs but a bit tight over your stomach to me. I bet if you size up it will not look as fitted though.

I tried on a very similar dress but in denim from M&S this week. Sadly too tight over my boobs. I’m debating whether to try in size up or just leave it and return. It’s a gorgeous dress but won’t look as perfectly fitted everywhere else if I size up 😟.

and yes the style is definitely short isn’t it!!

SpidersAreShitheads · 20/03/2025 02:59

StarlightLady · 19/03/2025 14:00

Surely she was seeking views? Not everybody said it was too tight. She got a variety of opinions, l expect weighed them up, and came to her own conclusion.

Yes, you might be right.

I just didn't read her reply like that at all - it didn't sound as if she's decided that it's OK after weighing up the various feedback:

"... the dress is comfy when sitting and still looks good—no major riding up issues. I completely get that shorter dresses aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m rather chuffed with this one. It’s fitted but not too tight, and I’m not planning on doing cartwheels in it anyway!"

It's a very confident response. If I had my cynical head on, I might be tempted to think that she's posted here just for us to compliment her lovely figure rather than actually looking for feedback..... 😂

Either way, I'm happy to oblige. As I said earlier, if I was OP I'd size up as there are creases across the hips - but she could get away with wearing this size if she prefers. OP looks lovely, and it's a pretty dress.

jellyfishperiwinkle · 20/03/2025 03:34

It looks great. I would just try sitting down in it to see if it is uncomfortable.

Kentishqueen · 21/03/2025 12:24

You look fantastic in this dress, and I don’t think there’s anything off about the length. That said, a size up might enhance your figure even more. You’re absolutely rocking this look!
