Trying on this dress—does it look too tight? Need some honest feedback!

Hi everyone! I’m trialing this dress, and I’d really appreciate your thoughts. I’m a bit unsure if it looks too tight on me, especially around the waist and hips.. Does it look okay, or should I size up? Thanks in advance for your advice! 😊

Too short and looks like it's made from tablecloth.
But you look great..

Op didn’t ask about the length or pattern, you could have saved the backhanded compliment and just said it’s not to your taste but she looks great! Instead of being rude

Userengage · 18/03/2025 13:24

I would size up but I think it may then be too big where it currently fits and therefore may not be the dress for you - I hate that!

You look great anyway.

Catwoman8 · 18/03/2025 13:31

I don't think it looks too tight, but sometimes sizing up creates a more flattering look. I'd try both sizes and compare.

BeMintFatball · 18/03/2025 13:46

@babyproblems rude 😂 my DD works in Matalan. I went in yesterday and have to admit was pleasantly surprised by their current clothes. I bought DD 2 really nice pairs of casual shorts for the summer.

@CoffeeLover87 I think the dress is meant to look fitted and looks great on you. Come back and tell us if you bought it.

OldKingCole · 18/03/2025 13:47

You look great in it, I don’t see anything wrong with the length- but I think a size up would be more flattering on you.

SiobhanSharpe · 18/03/2025 13:50

I like it, it's a great dress and it suits you.
if it's comfortable keep it. Enough said.

Try the sit down test. For how tight it is and how far up to your thongs it goes 😊

I'm not sure if this a Freudian slip and you actually mean seeing her thong because its so short, or a typo of thighs? 😆

You have a great figure OP, but I too would see if you are comfortably bend over, sit, move etc in it.

Looks amazing; wish I looked like that.

Sunat45degrees · 18/03/2025 14:04

I think it's too small but only in places - it's sort of ruched above the waist and looks like it wants to ride up over the hips. I suspect that if you size up though it might be too big which is annoying as overall it does look good. I'd try a size up but wouldn't be certain it's going to work. this is where my ex-colleague would remind me that often celebrities, , even when they buy from Zara, often use tailors! She told me this 50000 times. To be fair, she also applied this advice to her own wardrobe and it worked really well!

ErrolTheDragon · 18/03/2025 14:06

It’s just a bit too tight. The next size up might well be a bit too loose.

middleagedandinarage · 18/03/2025 14:07

I don't instantly look at it and think it looks too tight but I would love to see the size up to see the difference

Bignanna · 18/03/2025 14:07

Don’t bend over!

Floraflower3 · 18/03/2025 14:08

It looks a perfect fit to me OP. The ruching looks like it’s caused by the way you’re standing so if you stood normally it would look even better.

Denime · 18/03/2025 14:12

It does fit but if you went out for a meal would you still feel comfortable in it? As in is there a little bit of extra room in it?

It's a sundress, hardly something you would wear to dine out in!

Thistooshallpass. · 18/03/2025 14:15

Looks like it’s pulling abit across the waist and hips . Does look abit short . Take it that it’s a holiday dress for hot weather - in which case I think anything this tight will be uncomfortable and sweaty !

TricksyLiesmith · 18/03/2025 14:18

You look great OP . Ignore the ‘too short’ comments it’s a lovely sun dress.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 18/03/2025 14:27

It looks a teeny bit tight in the waist and hips but I suspect the next size up will be too big. Try putting on a pair of tight running type shorts underneath as that’ll smooth you out a bit and avoid any flashing. That’s a tip I learned from teenage girls, they all wear Nike Pros under their dresses!

Agree. It would be more comfortable around the general arse area, but then probably too loose on the shoulders. It depends though, can you sit down comfortably in it? Do you even need to sit down in it, or is for cavorting around on a sunny deck cocktail in hand?!

I'd very happily dine out in that. Summer holiday, sitting outside - perfect.

waitingquietly · 18/03/2025 15:02

It’s only a little bit too tight in certain places - which probably means the next size will be too big

glitterturd · 19/03/2025 00:05

It's perfect!

Dutchhouse14 · 19/03/2025 00:25

I think you look great in it and it doesn't look too tight but I'd be very very careful bending or sitting down in it!

Monty27 · 19/03/2025 00:31

@CoffeeLover87 It's a lovely sundress. I take it you're buying for a summer holiday or party?

Back21970 · 19/03/2025 00:42

If you can sit down comfortably I think it’s about right.

The bigger size would definitely need taken in I reckon.
