What colour should I paint my toe nails? I don't want to but feel I ought to.

I never paint my toe nails but now feel I ought to (being a grown up and all) but I have no idea what colour to do. What's the least offensive, easy to maintain, hardwearing colour?

a very pale pink or a clear one with glittery bits in

Moosma · 12/05/2008 16:03

I'm a bit scared of very pale pink, I can't imagine I'd pick the right one. Can you link to a shade? [useless emoticon]

are you fairer or darker?

I am horribly pale, and find [http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0239039 this]] is working ok - it's a stronger colour than the name suggests.

PerkinWarbeck · 12/05/2008 16:05

this

MargaretMountford · 12/05/2008 16:06

there's a v nice Bourjois one - will link if I can find it

MargaretMountford · 12/05/2008 16:09

here

nailpolish · 12/05/2008 16:14

pale pink is ok if youa re tanneed or in a hot climate

doesnt go to well with corned beef toes

i like pillar box red on toes but it has to be chip free and immaculate

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 12/05/2008 16:15

Rimmel do a gold coloured polish that dries in 60 seconds - so not much faffing about. It's not a bright in-your-face bling gold colour. I've had mine on for 2 or 3 weeks and although it's beginnning to grow out, it's not that noticeable, not like a bright red or pink would be. It hasn't chipped either.

Twinkie1 · 12/05/2008 16:16

Have Rouge Noir on mine - am very old fashioned - just like it.

MehgaLegs · 12/05/2008 16:16

I always go dark red, browny, plummy tones. Hides the dirt a treat.

I think if you have yellow and sallow skin like mine you need something a bit orangey or salmony...

Mercy · 12/05/2008 16:18

And not navy or yellow

nailpolish · 12/05/2008 16:18

chanel do a nice one called fire

rimmel lycra wear good if on a smaller budget

lol at megha - if my bump wasn't so big that I'm having to 'speed paint' toenails at the moment I'd have the Rouge Noir on for the exact same purposes.

WilfSell · 12/05/2008 16:24

So what colour then for pale, yellowish skin, dark hair with orangey tones, but really looking just poorly milk bottle white and Irish most of the time...?

Moosma · 12/05/2008 16:24

I am pasty and blond, but scrubby rather than Swedish blond. I do go brown, but very slowly and my feet are always last to tan.

I don't want anything that people will notice in a 'oooh, what a nice colour' sort of way, more just if they happen to look at my feet I don't want them to think 'eek scabby nails, she should've painted them'

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 12/05/2008 16:25

Agree not yellow - has a nicotine-stained air about it.
