Looking fur a strong smelling, signature type perfume.

Just finished my bottle of Portrait of a Lady.

I guess I'm looking for an "in your face" type perfume!

No one ever asks me either!

Solidarity friend, solidarity xx

HeadacheEarthquake · 24/02/2025 23:26

I've had wild amounts of comments on michael kors midnight shimmer

Crikeyalmighty · 24/02/2025 23:28

I've always been asked what I'm wearing ( in a good way) with Chloe - roses and Marc Jacob's decadence

Yuckyyuckyuckity · 24/02/2025 23:30

Chance by Chanel (the floral one)

BrummiMummi · 24/02/2025 23:31

Jean Paul Gaultier - Le Classique - often get people asking what it is - hopefully for the right reasons!

Would also echo Samsara by Guerlain - a beautiful smell that will forever remind me of my Grandma 💕

Biffsboys · 24/02/2025 23:33

YSL Libre - I’ve been asked lots of times when I’m wearing this .

steelingmyself · 24/02/2025 23:39

Another one for YSL libre intense.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 24/02/2025 23:48

I get complemented on

L'interdit by Givenchy

Ode to dullness by Juliet has a gun

Crikeyalmighty · 24/02/2025 23:59

@BrummiMummi samsara always reminds me of my divorce at 28 - my ex H hated it and I loved it and went and bought a huge bottle once divorce through!!

WarmthAndDepth · 25/02/2025 00:08

Why on earth would you want an 'in your face' fragrance? That's grim. I cross the road / move tables / take a different seat / leave the queue when someone with an obnoxiously 'loud' scent is in my vicinity. Urgh.

The fragrance that almost always gets me praise and compliments is Molecule 01. I know it's a marmite thing and that some people can't really smell it at all, but I love it.

AdoraBell · 25/02/2025 00:09

I second Paloma Picasso for winter.

bugalugs45 · 25/02/2025 06:57

Chanel chance or ysl libre .
Also love Gucci guilty , the purple one ( elixir )

healthybychristmas · 25/02/2025 07:02

@WarmthAndDepth I agree! Who wants to sit next to someone who smells really strongly of any perfume?

ThreeMagicNumber · 24/02/2025 21:49

Zara Red Temptation, get asked all the time what it is. So cheap and smells the same as baccarat rouge.

I tried that in the shop out of curiosity. In the next shop the person on the checkout was asking me what it was and seemed genuinely blown away by how great it smelt. I hated the smell unfortunately.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 25/02/2025 07:09

Alien by Thierry Mulger

AuntieMarys · 25/02/2025 07:18

Goldfield and Banks Bohemian Lime
I'm on my 2nd bottle....loads of compliments

oxfordmarmalade · 25/02/2025 07:35

How about trying Estée Lauder Youth Dew? It's a classic and is my go to in Winter.
Saving up for Portrait of a Lady. Commented on it whilst talking to an estate agent once and was wowed by it!

MonkeyTennis34 · 25/02/2025 07:41

Wow!
Thanks all for so many suggestions.

I've only tried a fraction of them...Angel, Alien.

Planning on a London trip soon so will hopefully make it to Liberty which I think has many of the perfumes mentioned.

I often run out of arm space to try them out!

For those wanting to try perfumes don't forget about the dupes. I've used Perfume Parlour and they're great but there's also The Essence Vault plus others! What I like is that you can essentially try the perfume before paying £££ if you want to buy the real thing.

Most of the Estee Lauder classics are quite strong. I love Knowing, Azuree (don't think they do Alliage any more, boo!) Private Collection .I also love Spellbound.

JoM8 · 25/02/2025 07:54

I've been asked about Jo Malone ones (I'm not Jo Malone btw despite my username! 😂) by strangers on the Tube etc. One woman said "Wow, it smells so expensive."

Yes. Yes, it was indeed. 😩

bugalugs45 · 25/02/2025 07:56

MamaBanana12 · 24/02/2025 21:48

guerlain, insolence.

Constantly every single time I wear it. I love it

I loved My insolence , softer than original , was gutted when they discontinued it !

mammazitta · 25/02/2025 08:14

Splendud · 24/02/2025 21:56

I haven't had compliments about perfume for a long time, but I've had three in the last month.

Every time, I've been wearing the Pomegranate perfume from Aldi.

£6.65 a bottle.

Wondering whether I should just abandon my more expensive perfumes!

This is my favourite! I get compliments every time I wear it. Such a bargain and smells beautiful

deeahgwitch · 25/02/2025 08:44

People's tastes are so different.
I can't abide the smell of Pomegranate Noir or Aldi's Pomegranate dupe. It makes me heave.
Likewise Mugler's Angel

Nandia24 · 25/02/2025 08:46

The two perfumes I wear which regularly get comments are

Molecule 01

Chanel no 5 - people literally stop me and ask me what it is. Especially men.
