What trainers are we wearing?

I don't have enough shoes and need to invest in myself a bit more. For various reasons I've neglected myself, and my wardrobe, and had about 5 years olf 'making do'

I have
1 x Doc Marten shoes in cherry
1 x pair white casual trainers for summer
2 x sandals for summer
1 x walking books
some old pairs of high heels which never get worn.

and one pair of Hoka trainers which are filthy and do for dog walking, gym, general leaving the house.

so I need some trainers that stay nice and clean.
and some trainers I can use in the gym, and my current ones can stay for dog walking.

My friend has just bought some Gazelles but my husband wears those.

I have really bad feet/arches so can't cope with Converse anymore.

Vionics are worth a look. They do insoles to put in existing shoes, as well as their own shoes/boots/sandals. I wore their insoles with Converse when I had plantar faciitis.

Pyjamatimenow · 23/02/2025 17:10

New balance and adidas spezials here

outerspacepotato · 23/02/2025 17:23

I wear Stan Smiths out and Feiyue for both working out and going out because they are so comfortable but they are very flat with not much cushioning so they probably wouldn't work for you.

JustJazzy · 23/02/2025 17:43

I love a pair of Adidas, been wearing them for years well before they became trendy.
For arch support the spezials, gazelle and gazelle indoor are good. I actually find the arch support too high for me so I remove it. Spezials are really comfortable too. The insole is removable so can be replaced with another pair that might suit your feet better if needed.
New balance 574 have good support also.

CoachTheCat · 23/02/2025 17:43

Hoffs always seem to come up on mumsnet trainer threads but this week was the first time that I have ever seen someone wearing them.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 23/02/2025 18:09

Brooks trainers for the gym. I have bad PF and I’m living in these at every opportunity. Vionic not doing it for me at all. Arches and heels really ache.

I'm using fit flop trainers for the office but again, they don’t offer the same relief as Brooks trainers.

Microbantime · 23/02/2025 18:13

I have my white sambas.

These new balance dupes from marks and Spencer.

I also have a pink pair of samba dupes from Primark.

and a pair of white adidas superstars.

SmackerelTime · 23/02/2025 18:44

I have very flat feet and recently got some SuperGa classics. I ripped out their usual insole and popped in an arch support one. Now my go-to smart work trainers. I have them in navy, silver, royal blue, and then khaki and pale pink for home. I get them in the sale and find them very good value for money.

Allbirds are great. If you can get into London and try them on they will let you return them for a refund if they aren't right. I have a couple of styles.

I agree. I’ve been wearing them for about 6 years now- they’re comfy and great for my wonky feet too. I buy mine online.

BestZebbie · 23/02/2025 18:47

I like Nike Dunks (Next Nature version) but on the Tube yesterday I did notice that 1/3 of the people in my area were wearing Adidas Sambas, mostly in largely-white or silver colourways.

Hotappletea · 23/02/2025 18:48

My DSs and girlfriends (age 18-20)- all who attend university in trendy parts of the SE - comment in surprised tones about how much they like my Hoffs.

But my brooks are way more comfortable.

Overtheatlantic · 23/02/2025 18:49

Hoffs city leather trainers. I love the colours.

Killam · 23/02/2025 18:52

Allbirds for me. I think they're in trouble though. Our local store just closed.

Oldraver · 23/02/2025 19:07

Just bought these Campus today, I've got a few pairs of Gazelles in different colours but my favourite are some Spezials in baby blue and yellow

I tend to have different colours for different dresses so just go with what I like and not bothered by what's in

I bought a pair of bright pink Pumas last year which are super comfy though the best for my feet are my Reebok classics

What trainers are we wearing?
GrainneIsAinmDom · 23/02/2025 19:11

I wear New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080 V13

Louise121806 · 23/02/2025 19:13

New Balance are on trend and are so comfy.

outofofficeagain · 23/02/2025 19:18

Thank you all.

I have bought some Vionics in navy.

They are very comfortable and I'm planning to keep them for gym and (clean) daily use.

Next month I might treat myself to something more colourful

I've been an Adidas wearer for about 30 years but picked up a pair of Onitsuka Tigers a couple of months ago and they are barely off my feet, stylish, slim, and SO comfortable.

ChristmasLightsLover · 23/02/2025 20:41

And I meant to say, try on in the shops for size as they vary by brand - and then buy on Vinted! A great way to try different stuff with spending £££ :))

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 23/02/2025 21:08

Puma Suede's in Burgundy, Black, and Green. I also have a pair of black suede Superdry ones and a pair of white leather Tommy Hilfiger ones.

RosemaryRabbit · 23/02/2025 23:20

I got some at M&S today that are clearly supposed to look like Hoffs.

mondaytosunday · 24/02/2025 01:45

Sketchers are my go to every day trainers. Then in summer I live in fit flop sandals. I rarely wear anything else other than flat black loafers when I need something dressier than trainers.

PoopingAllTheWay2 · 24/02/2025 02:18

Sketchers

StrikeAlways · 24/02/2025 02:55

Nike seem to be the best fit for me, so I tend to stick with them. I have dodgy feet and need to pay attention to their needs! I bought two pairs of Nike Cortez last year. I love them, but they don’t have thick soles, so not ideal for walking long distances (although very comfortable gir pottering about). I just ordered a pair of Nike Air Force 1 ‘07 in red. I love the colour and it’s going to be very on trend this year.

beachcitygirl · 24/02/2025 04:13

Used to wear exclusively sambas until Sunak was photographed wearing them so
I got the major ick. Now wearing pale pink stan smiths or white veja with gold glitter
