Could this work for a wedding?

I have a hotel based wedding, late April. I have one dress and would really like not to have to buy anything new for it. Do you think with some accessories it could work or, is it too summer holiday, white trainers and denim jacket looking?

I have jewellery and a cream clutch bag. Not sure on shoes though.

It’s a hotel wedding but not a big 5 star grand wedding.

Quite staggering - the number of people happy to post without having read the OP’s updates … Hmm

I read the updates, but thought worth adding I thought the original dress was lovely and suitable even if the Op has decided not to wear.

Peopie on here can be such snobs. Wear what you can afford to wear, paint on a smile and have a lovely time. There is nothing wrong with the dress.

Pippyls67 · 29/03/2025 21:50

Its entirely suitable.

I would look at Roman. They have some nice stuff that is fairly cheap. Definitely not investment pieces but I'm often surprised how good their stuff is for the price.

Maybe a cream jacket with smart cream shoes and some gold jewellery could give it some edge?

You don't need to spend a fortune. What is it they say " buy the dress and create the occasions" ? Both of these less than 50.

Where’s the shorter dress from please ?

Vinted has some glorious wedding guest dresses for £10-20 look at Coast etc as you can try similar styles on to get your size

The dress is fine. I would want to find some interesting shoes and bag to elevate it. Many of the alternatives offered here are really tacky and I wouldn't dream of wearing them. Nothing wrong with linen for a wedding and much better for the planet than all the horrendous manmade polyester being suggested.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 08/04/2025 14:10

Yes, OP, that dress is absolutely fine for a wedding. I take it you just want to be dressed appropriately, rather than having people go ‘ooh look at @Rugbyterms, doesn’t she look fab in her brand new dress!’? A brand new dress that you probably like less than the one you’ve got and may never wear again. The dress you have is perfectly appropriate, save your money for something you would actually really enjoy wearing that suits your lifestyle.

If you don’t have something appropriate you should not go. Accessories might dress up the dress but not enough for a wedding.

What a totally stupid comment. The OP is planning on wearing a navy dress, not ripped joggers and an oodie.
