Summer wardrobe when you are a bit of a chubber

I inflicted my arms on the unsuspecting folk of Weston-super-Mare today. It was not good (mind you, I wasn't alone there in my bingo wing affliction) No sleeves are bad - short sleeves are worse, as my arms spill out of them like a badly stuffed sausage.

It's too hot for cardigans

My legs are not good bare (even with fake tan)

Linen trousers look shit on me

Kaftans are a no no as I am 5ft tall with ample norkage, so they make me look preggers.

Ap[art from a sack, what else is there?

Dunno. Try staying indoors this summer.

SheikYerbouti · 08/05/2008 16:21

I want to hibernate all saummer - either that, or take up permanet residence in a nice beer garden, where I won;t care how I look because I will be lager-addled

Yes, I'm trying to create my own beer garden at home so I neednt' bother anyone with my big arms and pale legs.
Seems the only fair thing to do.

SheikYerbouti · 08/05/2008 16:24

If you7 live near me,I'll help you set it up - make sure you bring your sunglasses though - I have been known to send folk blind with my dazzling white skin

Anyway, all of this beer garden talk is not getting me kitted out with flattering, but cool summer garments.

I just can't seem to wear unstructured kecks - they always seem to highlight the fact that the lower half of my body moves independantly to the rst of me

(Not for much longer, I hope - am swimming 50 legths a day at mo - did 65 this morning, actua;l;ly - WITHOUT STOPPING) get me.

www.monsoon.co.uk/icat/smartdressesMonsoondresses. Some with sleeves.Any there you fancy?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/05/2008 16:33

Monsoon sell linen trousers that are well cut and structured. I think they are worth every penny as they don't go out of fashion.

I too am large of arse

hoxtonchick · 08/05/2008 16:33

rayon & viscose are one & the same aren't they? and natural....

WinkyWinkola · 08/05/2008 16:34

What about a maxi dress? Haven't got time to look but I'm sure there are some with longer sleeves... . .

Look here

Dragonbutter · 08/05/2008 16:34

Am not sure about maxi dresses on small people. I am 5 10 and stay away from them.

cremolafoam · 08/05/2008 16:35

maxi dress all the way
fitted kurta style things
vest tops with 3/4 lenght linen or very gauzey shirt over top
with floaty tops a tighter trouser is better that baggies
3/4 length trouser(dark) wedge heel sandal for a bit of height and 3/4 lenght sleeve t-shirt with vneck - to flatter norkage
no short neck jewellery to cut head off from body
long beads to draw eyes away from norks
plain clours
not big patterns
fabulous feet and ankles - fakey tan and pristine pedicure.

I am also similar shapeage
and dread summer, but these are my rules

collision · 08/05/2008 16:36

What about a long floaty skirt? With 3 quartered length sleeved top?

I bet linen trews do look nice on you and you just think that they dont.

What is the quality like on 'Oli' clothes?

some lovely dresses that Winky linked to....

hoxtonchick · 08/05/2008 16:54

ok, so it's not cotton.... .

moshiecat · 08/05/2008 16:57

But viscose is 'breathable' so feels cool, like linen without the creasing. it drapes better too.

hoxtonchick · 08/05/2008 17:11

hey, my cat is called moshi .
