Summer wardrobe when you are a bit of a chubber

I inflicted my arms on the unsuspecting folk of Weston-super-Mare today. It was not good (mind you, I wasn't alone there in my bingo wing affliction) No sleeves are bad - short sleeves are worse, as my arms spill out of them like a badly stuffed sausage.

It's too hot for cardigans

My legs are not good bare (even with fake tan)

Linen trousers look shit on me

Kaftans are a no no as I am 5ft tall with ample norkage, so they make me look preggers.

Ap[art from a sack, what else is there?

Arse is big, but OK shape (jeans a no no though, due to thight problem

Stomach is area of majort disaster, due to 2 CS in less than 2 years and having no muscles there anyway

Boobs good (when encased within a bra)

Thing is though, is that I feel plus size in a 14! I have ordered that dress in a 12 - and will feel huge in it.

By rights, I should be an 8, as am a short arse.

Bizarrely though, petite ranges do not cut the mustard, as have long body and short legs . (I shound attarctive, don;t I?)

Only buy vest from Primarche, as they are actually the right length, ie not too short, and !1.50 a throw (try no to think of children in sweat shops when at till)

Won;'t shop at Topshop as am not 15.

Monsoon VG for me, as is Great Plains.

Right, I need some arm coverage to go with that dress

Sheik you have DREADFUL body image

You are VERY SEXY

Don't stress so much

CountessDracula · 08/05/2008 23:23

sheik can i just say that the tie top sleeves are fake they are just little bits of material that you tie over the top of the sleeves

Enid · 09/05/2008 13:12

you are very pretty

and young looking

DarthVader · 09/05/2008 13:14

Would advise you to go somewhere busy on a hot day and people watch!

Take notes of who is your shape & size and looks good and what they are wearing!

SheikYerbouti · 11/05/2008 10:59

Enid and MP

Went shopping on Friday, was a complete disaster. However, bought some lovely wedges from New Look for the bargain price of 20 quid, and they are so comfortable. I shall buy them in every colour, I think. I walked 3 miles while pissed in them last night. I love them.

I need to stop eating, I think. It's the only way. Then summer clothes buying misery will endeth.

I find clothes shopping more successful when I take my DH

My body image is so bad despite my very best efforts to be logical, and I just see elephants in the mirrors, so trying stuff on and seeing whether DH is dribbling or not is a much better indicator

unknownrebelbang · 11/05/2008 16:17

My DH is as useless as me at clothes shopping for me.

My DS2 - 11 - is far far better!

Don't know where he gets it from, tbh.

SheikYerbouti · 11/05/2008 18:52

God, the thought of shopping with DP fills me with utter horror.

He has the fashion sense of a scruffy student living in digs circa 1993. He still wears a t-shirt that he has had since 1987

My mother is no better either - left to her, I'd be trussed up in a scary floral ensemble and I'd wear sensible shoes. I would also end up with Big Hair

I see shopping as a solitary activity.

I also never look in the mirror of changing rooms in shops until the clothes are ON. It's far less depressing. The lighting in shop fitting rooms is often mega harsh - therefore it shows up all of my disgusting fat.

I have come to the conclusion I am the wrong shape for clothes

The Monsoon dress arrived today. size 12 too small round boobs - too big on waist. Grrrrr

Back to square 1. I will return it and get a 14, but I bet it will billow round my waist like a tent and make me look like I am carrying a watermelon.
