Me too, I shrunk out of everything and had to start again.

So expensive! And it's the thing I forgot to consider, like knickers and swimsuits and a waterproof jacket.

Urghhh it is. Did you shrink as well? Not to mention bras - so expensive and I'm not sure what size I am anymore.

Your comment about your Ganni shoes being fully amortised at well over £1 per wear got me thinking, @Mencia. I'm not sure I could cope with evaluating my wardrobe that way! Most of my stuff would work out at pennies or less, but I've also got things I've not yet worn, so cost per wear = infinity 🤔 and some shoes still at the £80-ish I paid for them. Yikes!

I do not mind buying expensive items if I know they are going to be amortised.
But I will think twice about a £10 Primark top if I am only wearing it a few times.
20 years ago I bought a black military coat, 100% wool, by L’Altra Moda which was €600+ even with 50% off. In terms of cost-efficiency it has been a better purchase than any other coat I have ever owned.
Perhaps is the economist in me, but I always “calculate” based on quality, style and potential use. Sometimes expensive garments are cheap in the long run.

Mencia · 05/06/2025 22:27
