My most worn
Mira pumpkin jumper
pumpkin cashmere mix big scarf - use it everyday as a blanket usually.
Darcey (I think it is) jacket- I have both green and navy. Great over a dress.
And that little woolly neck scarf from this year must have paid for itself already

@ScottishMouse I bought a light quilted coat in the Whistles sale that looks good over my dresses I think. It’s really light and suitable for spring. Has marvellous pockets too.

IlovePond · 18/01/2025 19:35

@ScottishMouse - I think the two Uniqlo cord jackets look pretty good over Toast dresses.

Here they are:

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E472506-000/00

I have the orange, (full price), and picked up the navy in the sale. They’ve since got even cheaper and are so lovely.

I have also just bought a long wool coat in TWC sale - a shop I have never previously been in until last week😹 I wanted the orange/black Toast coat but couldn’t spend that much, then they sold out. However, this coat may fill my need for a grown up smart coat. I think it may look ok over my Toast dresses as it’s long on me.

Hi, dropping in with a query for the Toast connoisseurs. I was delighted with myself for getting this dress on eBay for less than half price - sold as used but very good condition. Washed it, then wore it this week (Wednesday?), got loads of compliments - but yesterday and today I have broken out in itchy bumps all over my arms and torso. I've racked my brains to think of anything I might have eaten or changed that might have caused them but can't come up with a likely culprit - and then I wondered whether it might be an allergic reaction to the indigo in the cloth. I'd have thought that it would have been washed by the previous owner at least once, and then I washed it (in my usual detergent) - but the fabric does still smell quite indigo-y. Has anyone else had a similar experience &/or have any suggestions for fixing it? (also very open to being told I've got it wrong and I should go check for bed bugs or whatever 😱😳)

@OhBuggerandArse - those indigo dresses can hold a lot of ink for a long time, from what people have said on here, so it’s possible you have had a reaction to the dye.

It’s more likely, perhaps, if you have a history of allergies, but I once heard of someone having a similar reaction after wearing a new pair of dark blue jeans for the first time.

ScottishMouse · 18/01/2025 20:57

Thanks @IlovePond ans @Countmeout i’ll take a look at those jackets.

OhBuggerandArse · 18/01/2025 20:57

Thanks, @IlovePond - allergic reactions like that are not a usual thing for me but not completely unknown so I guess I just have to proceed carefully. Will be very cross if I can't wear the dress - it was my first not-trousers day out in years, so I was feeling pleased with myself! I wonder if I just wash it tons to start with that might help?

OftenOrange · 18/01/2025 21:00

These well loved items all sound gorgeous , and the homeware items mentioned have given me ideas!
I bought the tea towel red stripe pillowcases and duvet cover only after reading about them here, and now two years on they have so enhanced the room that I haven’t used anything else , ie they get washed in the mornings then back on the bed for the evening .
I’d love to find some bedding in the sale but alas it did not happen for a while.
And I didn’t take the 4 nightdresses into account , they are up there with the Annies !

Dithering on ordering the block print beige and coral nightie ,I’ve a feeling it may be really lovely in a subtle way ….

IlovePond · 18/01/2025 21:01

@OhBuggerandArse - washing a few times might help, also try Piriton - if it’s an allergic reaction that should help. Otherwise, maybe get the GP to have a look. Fingers crossed you can wear your lovely dress soon!

My most worn items are Annie jeans have black and indigo. A green mira jumper that I have had repaired with the repair service and keeps on going.
A denim tunic dress that is my most comfortable working from home outfit but also smart enough as a going out dress.
Also the boy t-shirts in black and ecru are so useful and worn weekends, to the gym, to yoga.
But I do also love my print viscose dresses although wear them less, usually at work spring and autumn. Think it's when you find things that work for your lifestyle. Love hearing what everyone else wears the most and how your clothes are worn.

Snowyowl78 · 19/01/2025 11:00

@OhBuggerandArse oh wow that’s bad luck I have never heard of that. I get these sort of things often, mostly from overheating and wearing tight clothes. Seem to be allergic to wool socks recently. I have never had it from Indigo though and I have lots of Toast indigo. It does sound likely though if it’s your chest and arms. I’d probably wash and try again? You probably already know but HC45 Hydrocortisone cream is the best for this sort of thing.

ToastCosILoveIt · 19/01/2025 11:42

I'm really enjoying reading about your favourite pieces. I'd really struggle to say mine but it is a rare day when I'm not wearing something from Toast, even if it's a leather bag or a coat. Yesterday I wore the indigo mariner hemp trousers with the pumpkin cashmere button up cardigan, both from the last couple of years. The mariner trousers are a 10 - I'm a 12 - a bit snug to pull over the hips but the right size once they're up!

I do love a Toast jumpsuit and have a few of them, including a linen grey one that must be 10+ years old. I bought the herringbone grey one in the sale snd I'm really looking forward to wearing it for the first time, perhaps on Friday when I will be travelling, as long as I can make peace with having to pull it down in a confined space on an aeroplane loo Grin.

I have loads of Toast dresses, couldn't really pick a favourite, perhaps the pattern (flower) printed ones from about three or four years ago which I bought in blue and in green and which come out every summer and always come on holiday. I've had more than one person stop me in the street to admire them. I can't remember their name but I know they're a favourite on here.

I also love the bedding and have the striped ticking duvet cover shown up thread. You can really feel the quality when using them, almost all of them bought in the sale when they're really good value.

I'm still pondering the kantha pinafore. Some of the reviews suggest sizing down but I'm wondering if a 10 would be too snug. I suppose I could order two sizes via Amex and send one back....or both back if they don't live up to expectations.

I'm about to 'chat' with Toast customer services as a few of the sale items I bought were further reduced literally a day after I bought them.

Snowyowl78 · 19/01/2025 12:19

Enjoying reading about peoples favourite items! My favourite are jumpsuits. Mainly indigo jumpsuits. They are perfect and take no thought about what to wear because you only need to choose one thing and it’s always going to look great. They are also a great length on me and I feel bad for taller people who they will be too short for but makes a change as I have to shorten everything else. A blue patchwork scarf which i was initially annoyed about it being so small but then discovered it’s so much more versatile than a bigger scarf and can easily be chucked in a bag if too hot so you don’t have to commit to wearing it all day if the weather is changeable. The embroidered kaftan dress is also amazing and I don’t wear it half as much as it deserves.

Stoic123 · 19/01/2025 12:28

@Snowyowl78 - I should really wear my kaftan dress more too. I always feel really special when I wear it - it is comfortable but surprisingly elegant.

Snowyowl78 · 19/01/2025 12:36

@Stoic123 so comfortable! I love the fit of the top of it and the shoulders. Also it’s very loose but gives a great profile. Someone came up to me to admire it when I wore it last which was nice. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to wear it in summer due to the longer sleeves but hoping it will be perfect for transitional seasons as I would rather wear it without tights and with some Birkenstocks if possible. I did have it shortened by about 4 inches. I would like to buy a second and have it made short sleeved!

ScottishMouse · 19/01/2025 12:40

That embroidered kaftan dress is a beauty. It’s one of the ones that got away for me, I dithered too long and that was it. I always keep a wee eye out for it on resale sites but I’m not even sure what size I would need now as I was smaller when I tried it.

Snowyowl78 · 19/01/2025 12:49

@ScottishMouse its very big. I have it in a 10 and it’s perfect. I am mostly in Toast 12’s or mediums. Although large in many tops and vests. It’s more fitted on the shoulders and chest and very loose on the waist - there is no waist really it’s a dropped waist

Snowyowl78 · 19/01/2025 12:50

@ScottishMouse theres an 8 on eBay but it’s overpriced

ScottishMouse · 19/01/2025 13:33

Thanks @Snowyowl78 , I think I would need at least a 10.

ScottishMouse · 19/01/2025 13:37

Just picked up a Vinted parcel of a Toast poncho. Was so looking forward to receiving it, but when I opened it, it has a large (10p piece size) hole on one shoulder which was never mentioned. How are Vinted with such issues? I have logged the issue so will wait and see, but I am already stressing that I will have a fight on my hands. I’m also sad because I was delighted to find it, it’s last year’s colour so no longer available. If I had paid far less and the hole was tiny, I would have stitched it up and not worried, but the hole is big and makes me worry that it may have been caused by moths. Having fought so hard to get rid of the moths in our house last year, I do not want any making their way back in!

Poplinskirt · 19/01/2025 13:50

@ToastCosILoveIt are they the Tala poplin dresses?
I have both the blue and the pistachio and absolutely my favourite Toast dresses, even though I love the Bryns
Trousers -Annie's are my perfect trousers
I have full length, cropped, black ecru and cord
Knitwear -Donegals all the way
Toast nightwear but I've drifted lately and bought some beautiful full length gowns elsewhere.

@Stravaig you mentioned holding onto favourite stuff .
I've done a 180 and if it isn't quite right or doesn't fit then out it goes.
My thoughts are that I won't wear it, someone else will and its taking up space.
The sooner I sell , the more relevant it is and I get a good price to buy more Toast!

Poplinskirt · 19/01/2025 13:51

@ScottishMouse
Have you also contacted the seller and asked them to send you a label so you can return it?

It's unacceptable and they might be keen to avoid negative feedback.

How awful! I don't think vinted are great. No experience myself but I've read a few things.
At a push, you could freeze it ( to.get rid of any moths) then take it to a Toast shop to.be repaired?

ScottishMouse · 19/01/2025 14:02

That’s my backup plan @neveradullmoment99 , but I will see what the seller says. It’s a dark colour, the seller says it was unworn, and it is possible that she didn’t see the hole if it was just folded up in a drawer. I am giving her the benefit of the doubt as she has good feedback. But so annoying.

IlovePond · 19/01/2025 14:03

@ScottishMouse - I would wrap it and put in the fridge now this minute pending a return, (hopefully!)

So annoying when this happens - difficult to see how the seller didn’t know.

Good point @IlovePond.

i’m not a knitter or knitwear expert, so maybe someone here can advise, but the hole almost looks like a manufacturing issue - I can’t see where the stitches have come apart and it doesn’t look like it is going to unravel further. 🤷‍♀️

Toasties - still loving the knitwear and the chat!
