I have set up a new Toastie thread, guys.

@TosstTastic That's what I find odd, and interesting. I think of myself as relatively minimalist, and prefer to keep it that way, and yet I've found a few wee caches of things that stubbornly linger. I've stumbled into some tangled sticky loops of psyche-flypaper trapping wayward and nonsensical ideas! (Some grotesque imagery should help speed things along 😆

@IlovePond I've sometimes noticed outrageously priced items, maybe that's what's happening.

ScottishMouse · 16/01/2025 12:43

I’ve decided to keep the new indigo vest in S. I brought my returns to store and chatting to the lovely assistant, she persuaded me to try it on again. It is neat and I feel it pulls a bit on the bust, but she convinced me it looks good, and I might not want to wear it closed that much, it looks good with only the top button closed. Without a winter sweater underneath, the size is good. The side ties are less stiff on this one than on the M I tried and don’t seem as pointless on the smaller size. Everything else went back though.
I have one sale parcel arriving tomorrow, but it was a bit of a last ditch attempt, so I imagine it will be going back.

Snowyowl78 · 16/01/2025 13:26

Looks like some further reductions. Notably the space tank!
I’ve been waiting for the sketch check bag and the Jessa dungarees to make a final order but have succumbed to the space tank and the velvet jumpsuit also further reduced.
im also trying the new crinkle black trousers as they look good for work in the summer

ScottishMouse · 16/01/2025 14:23

Thanks for the further reductions tip @Snowyowl78. The only thing I bought that is further reduced is the ribbed mittens I bought last week, and I’m not sure I can be bothered trying to get back a few pounds. Maybe I should though, it would at least cover the postage I paid for 😆

I confess I decided to treat myself to some of the blue garment dyed cotton linen trousers. I thought I deserved a treat. I sized down as per some of the reviews, plus I've been in a downward trajectory weight/size wise for the last year (deliberately).

Came out of hospital Tues night, hopefully now on the mend!

faustina · 16/01/2025 16:22

Thanks @Snowyowl78 . I am almost tempted by the extremely reduced wool cotton seersucker jacket, but have managed to talk myself out of it because I'm not sure the collar would work

@PrincessofWells - how nice to hear you're home again! I have those trousers in fallow and they're lovely (and I tried the jacket in blue which is a beautiful shade) - but with the trousers I found them very small and had to size up. I'm usually an XS and they were quite spectacularly tiny (like an XXS). The small fits me fine

Oh no, I'm normally a large and ordered a medium 🤣

faustina · 16/01/2025 16:36

@PrincessofWells - I'd order a large just in case if I were you, or put your name down for one if it's out of stock - maybe even an XL if you're usually a L? It wasn't just the waist being a bit too tight on the XS - I could do them up, but they looked really tight and I couldn't even get my hands in the pockets. The minako twill which were my other sales purchase were fine in an XS

Thanks, I'll wait and try them. If they don't fit I'll return and maybe find some others in the outlet in the spring.

AmethystMoonShine · 16/01/2025 17:27

I missed my size in the space tank otherwise I'd have ordered. I might keep my eyes peeled for a middle of the night re-stock in the event of returns in a few days though. Nothing else tempting me though. I think the only further reductions affecting me are the dark blue Babbi slippers, they've had another £10 knocked off of them.

Snowyowl78 · 16/01/2025 17:47

@ScottishMouse I would ask for it, you can even do it on the chat!

@AmethystMoonShine im sure there will be some returns. I wasn’t sure about sizing as some people said it was short and small but I went for the s/m because that’s what I always go for when those size parameters are offered.

@PrincessofWells get well soon

Those slippers are fabulous.

@Snowyowl78 Thank you ❤️

IlovePond · 16/01/2025 18:49

Glad you are home @PrincessofWells !

My pj bottoms, nightie and jumper are due tomorrow. I am not hopeful they will fit/suit, but we shall see!

In other news: I am such a sheep that I have become quite obsessed with the ROKA bags Lucky Dips - who knew ordering a mystery nylon bag from a company you’d never heard of could be so exciting!

I really, really need to get out more!

I ordered a set of sage green linen pyjamas in large. The top arrived but not the trousers.

I rang Toast and they have kindly refunded the cost as the pyjamas are now out of stock; told me to keep the top. I assume that there is a pair of sage green linen pyjamas bottoms lurking somewhere in their warehouse.

It's a shame as they would have been ideal as summer daytime wear here in the Algarve where I live. It's gets very hot.

ScottishMouse · 16/01/2025 19:57

@Snowyowl78 I took your advice and got on the chat and had £12 refunded. Every little helps and all that. Thanks for the push.

shrinkingthiswinter · 16/01/2025 20:53

I've namechanged but have been around for ages. Was a generous 18/20, started at gym and shrank a bit, and am now doing the much-debated injections and losing weight much faster, so now falling out the bottom of the XL/18 category.

The only thing that feels not marvelous about this is that I had built up a beautiful and quite well-coordinated Toast wardrobe over several years (with your enablement). Some of it just looks better so far, but lot of things are already too big and will have to be sold. I don't want to buy much until I reach my final form and stabilize, but I do have to wear clothes. And it's encouraging to wear things that look nice.

So I've been trying to choose just a few pieces that will tide me over. I ordered the black v-neck dress which I've hankered after for ages but I was too big for it even in XL, and it's generous now and so lovely. It should be really versatile.

Going for skirts rather than trousers, since they seem more forgiving of size and shape change. The blue crinkle skirt is on its way, and also the dobby skirt. Jumpers seem fine so far since they're ok a bit oversized, so I haven't splashed on any tops.

But tips for your most versatile garments would be much appreciated!

triggers34 · 16/01/2025 20:54

Thanks to this thread I remembered I was a member of the Facebook selling site and bought a dress today. My first purchase on there but really easy .

Final sale reductions so I've ordered the kanthe pinafore that @TosstTastic is modelling up thread, Birkenstock felt clogs and some other clogs . I won't keep everything and I doubt the pinafore will suit me but it just looks so lovely .

TosstTastic · 16/01/2025 21:00

I recommend the Kantha pinafore to anyone with broad shoulders who likes the more fitted offerings from Toast rather than the floaty. I thought the onsite reviews gave a good flavour.

Cost per wear already down into teens, I'm not so much modelling it, more moved into it permanently for winter 😁

triggers34 · 16/01/2025 22:56

I've got small shoulders 😂

You are going to need those 1980s blouses with shoulder pads. Give it a Joan Collins twist.

Snowyowl78 · 17/01/2025 07:21

@shrinkingthiswinter is it worth getting a good tailor to adjust some of your favourite items? I reckon the most versatile pieces would be anything with a tie waist!

ScottishMouse · 17/01/2025 07:41

@shrinkingthiswinter I have gone the other way over the last few years and have had to sell on many beloved toast clothes. But the ones that worked at both smaller and bigger sizes tend to be - trousers & skirts with elasticated waists, sweaters that can be worn neater or oversized, dresses that don’t nip in at the waist/are a loose a-line shape, cardigans of all shapes and styles, looser style jersey tops. Things that have not been so versatile across sizes are shirts, shirt dresses, jackets, fixed waist trousers & skirts, jersey tops designed to be neat.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 17/01/2025 10:14

I've just sent back the Panelled Denim trousers from the sale, too similar to some I already have and too high in the waist for me. I really have to stop looking at the sale as there's nothing else I want now.
I have decided to order the new Crinkle Cotton trousers instead, as they look useful and hopefully comfortable on the waist.
