I was just admiring this smock in the shop. When I saw it online I thought ‘no way’ but in the flesh it looks lovely.

ScottishMouse · 12/01/2025 17:35

That’s the one @TosstTastic. I like both colours but that one is probably more me. I might need to try it.
Interestingly, the new pieces I tried were mostly quite big. I mentioned it in store when I returned them, and the assistant said that she had tried a couple of new things and thought the same. So yet more confusion with sizing.

PrincessofWells · 12/01/2025 21:57

I swore I wouldn't look at the new Toast releases, but I'm back in hospital, bored, and couldn't resist a peek. I like the cord shirt very much, but would wear as a jacket with a vest. The cord dungarees look a lovely shape, but I'm not sure about the non adjustable straps 🤔 It's a bit cheap not putting buckles on.

Stravaig · 12/01/2025 22:14

@PrincessofWells Sorry to hear you're back in, I hope they're taking good care of you. Agree those straps are not promising!

IlovePond · 12/01/2025 22:46

Hope you are better soon @PrincessofWells

Wishing you will @PrincessofWells - I hope you're feeling better and get home soon.

PrincessofWells · 12/01/2025 23:20

Thank you - the kindness of strangers- it means a lot ❤️

ScottishMouse · 13/01/2025 06:18

Sorry to hear you are back in hospital @PrincessofWells. hope they sort you out quickly and you’re feeling better soon.

OftenOrange · 13/01/2025 12:40

Sending best wishes @PrincessofWells hope you’ll be sorted and feeling better very soon, meanwhile enjoy your virtual Toast shopping 🛍️

faustina · 13/01/2025 15:49

@PrincessofWells - hope you're out again soon, and feeling better, and in the meantime enjoy your browsing!

applecatchers36 · 13/01/2025 16:08

Sorry to hear that your back in hospital PrincessofWells wishing you a speedy recovery and hope the new items are a good distraction

PrincessofWells · 13/01/2025 20:38

It looks as though I may have had a lucky escape with cords. This was on FB Toast (unofficial) selling page. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/15tzqXdZti/

If the page is behind the FB wall, in summation, the dungarees are cheap and thin.

AmethystMoonShine · 14/01/2025 09:52

Sorry to hear you're back in hospital @PrincessofWells , I hope not for too long. I also saw that review of the dungarees, it wasn't good was it?!

Quite a big re-stock overnight (I must stop looking!!) and I nabbed the pinch pots that @faustina recommended. I have seen them in a new light since she suggested bedside table placement. Mine shall go there and on top of my tallboy drawers where I am in the habit of depositing earrings at night.....which then roll onto the floor or into drawers and are never seen again...or at least not for months at a time.

I also came across this from Toast, in response to a review of the Freya dresses and the different fits of the olive and the brick (I have both and can confirm they're different in cut/size)....madness. Why give the dress the same name and then says oh it's cut differently!!! That isn't the same dress then is it?

I have cracked and ordered the dark blue pj bottoms and matching nightie to try, together with the blue Donegal jumper. I don’t need any of them and I am sure they will be unsuitable, but I kept going back to look at them.

Does anyone have any of these?

I almost reordered the poplin jacket until I remembered that even XXS was huge on me, (which is ridiculous), plus it was very wrinkled and ‘noisy’ material.

Countmeout · 14/01/2025 10:44

I hope you are on the mend soon @PrincessofWells .

I see the Onyx dress is available for anyone who was sorry they missed it.
So far I have resisted anything further. 😇

Poplinskirt · 14/01/2025 10:53

Is it the Sketch check @IlovePond ?
I have the nightie and it's huge and thin, very thin
I bought it for when it's boiling but I need to be decent, wafting around the garden and greenhouse

I just had a quite look and so much has come back into stock sale wise.

IlovePond · 14/01/2025 11:24

Ah yes @Poplinskirt - sounds like it will probably be going back, then 🙀

TosstTastic · 14/01/2025 11:25

Tell me about the poplin jacket @IlovePond & everyone. It's on its way but I'm trying to manage my expectations.
I'm looking for a summer throw on layer. I thought the drawstring, dipped hem was a bit Cos. Am warned about the raglan sleeves which I don't normally like, is it super batwinged?
I've gone for small/medium, currently wearing a 14 old Toast jacket but am generally a L/XL in the knitwear.

TosstTastic · 14/01/2025 11:29

My family have come to the conclusion it would be cheaper for Toast to fly me to their warehouse, the amount I've tried on at home and sent back.
But I am going to the land of Toast bricks & mortar. Any suggestions what to try from the current stock. I get quite overwhelmed, panic at choice and run out

Ilovemyshoes · 14/01/2025 11:38

I usually lurk but thought I’d update on the Freya discussion. I’m 5ft 9 and they’ve always been just below knee and look frumpy on me. I saw the new pear cord one says lower calf so I tried the suggested size 14. I would say this is old Toast sizing as I always used to be a 12 and this 14 was enormous, hanging off everywhere. It is very long though, lower calf on me. I didn’t reorder as the boat neck doesn’t suit me after all.

AFingerofFudge · 14/01/2025 11:44

Hi Toasties!
I can't remember the last time I posted, I know it was around Christmas when I said I was away.
Well we returned a few days ago, minus our luggage 😱 It was a special trip we were taking, and so most of my clothes (and yes I had overpacked) were Toast items. My beautiful culottes, the onyx dress that I had bought full price, all my Toast boy T-shirts, etc etc.
United Airlines were a complete shower, the tracking of our bags on the app didn't update and it looked like we wouldn't get them back, however they randomly turned up a couple of days ago, delivered by courier! I was so relieved. Even more important than my clothes were some sentimental items given to me by the people we were visiting.
I also returned with a nasty case of strep throat, I have been laid up since last Thursday. Am feeling a tiny bit better today, only in that I have actually got up and showered and put on clean pyjamas, it's been awful.

Anyway, it has not stopped my randomly ordering items as they come back into stock. I put it all on PayPal credit so I don't have to pay immediately- I send so much stuff back it saves money coming out and going back into my account.
This morning when woke early to take my penicillin I saw the restock and ordered the Aurora sandals, the Alpaca sweater and Freya gingham dress in black/ecru.
I'm waiting on the cosmic dress which I think will be too long. I really wanted the cosmic print shirt, but it doesn't seem to ever come back in my size.

faustina · 14/01/2025 12:24

This is the tricky time with the Toast sale, where we start looking at things just in case, and stuff gets ordered without any real expectations of keeping. I'm very glad to see it's not just me!

@AmethystMoonShine - I actually pinched the idea from one of the reviews so we both have that person to thank, though mine haven't made it upstairs yet. One is the world's most beautiful (and useful) supplements holder on my kitchen work surface, and the others will eventually go up. It's rings and lip salves for me. I live in a very old house where the floors aren't quite straight so there is a lot of rolling!

I managed to order the acacia wood tall board this morning. I think someone here was sent a cracked one? I'm hoping that isn't what I'll end up with. that's my sensible order. Now I'm going back in for another look

IlovePond · 14/01/2025 12:48

Glad you got your stuff back @AFingerofFudge - a similar thing happened to me years ago - I got my stuff back about ten days later!

@TosstTastic - I actually saw the green poplin instore full price and liked it but when I got it in the summer sale, I found it huge and crackly, (and that was the smallest size). Lovely colour though and I am tempted to try again. I have realised I just don’t like poplin, so for me that was part of the problem!

ScottishMouse · 14/01/2025 12:49

Me too @faustina and @AFingerofFudge! Early this morning I ordered the etched check linen bag, which I looked at in store and decided was too big, and the textured knit gilet in harvest, which I had the charcoal version of, never wore and sold on. Somehow the harvest version is going to be different. 🤦‍♀️

So glad to hear you got your luggage back @AFingerofFudge. I lost a suitcase once years ago when I moved to another country for a year. I had to go into my new job the next day in what I wore to travel on a transatlantic flight, it was awful. I never saw the suitcase again, and this is why I have taught myself how to pack light enough that I never have to check a bag in. My OH thinks I’m crazy, but I just won’t do it.
