General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread 2024

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

Carrying on the traditional from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, escape room anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Space NK and Harrods calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1 tomorrow.

Yes @OvaHere - with the eye cream, the lotion and the awful full size eye stick, Shiseido are pushing the boat out recently😹

I've been following along but not posting. Like another poster I've got the OK Hannah Martin one and I've been really impressed. Last couple of days has been an Espa body wash, which is a brand I like so I'm pleased with the travel size, a chocolate brown kajal eye liner and Percy & Reed shine spray.

@ConradKnightSocks the Bioeffect is my HG! Been using it for a few years and my skin is so insanely hydrated the following day which no other product has been able to achieve. It's what swayed me to get the CB advent

Day 18 from TreatBox is a packet of Prosecco gummies, which I am already eating as a type. I wouldn't say they taste much of Prosecco but they do taste very nice.

Not sure why on earth my post has been hidden literally the second I posted it. I was just adding my day 18 from TreatBox.

Now I'm curious. Are we in to the BSD section of the calendar?

@OchonAgusOchonOh Ha ha ha! That would be a whole new layer of advent. My post has come back so you can see it was quite harmless and much less adventurous. Perhaps the name of the sweets is flagged for checking? I won't type the G word again just in case.

I’ve never had the Bioeffect serum, I’ll have to keep an eye out after all the glowing (ahem) reviews here!

From Harrods this morning - Evidens Total Shield, SPF50 Anti aging.

Good size at 30ml and RRP £95.

Never heard of it, but more exciting than yesterday's cleanser! Will defo use.

Chocolate spread in Degustabox this morning. Looks really nice and I was looking forward to trying it, until I realised that the safety button had popped up and the lid has clearly been bashed, so into the bin it goes!
Very annoying!

Oh no @Roundaboot - one of the few 'fun' things in Degustabox this year.

Day 19 Boots unlimited: Bare Minerals Prime Time original pore minimising primer 30ml. Always keen to try new primers and I've liked other Bare Minerals products (mainly the serum - think someone else had the herb serum 8 ml? I liked that) so I'm very happy with today.

I know, right?! DS actually went "oooo!" when he opened the door. Well I am glad it was this that had a potential leak and not the pickled onions!
I think next year I'm just going to give myself a budget of £50 and go to Waitrose and buy a load (well, some!) bougie treats and do that as a family calendar instead of Degustabox.
