General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread 2024

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

Carrying on the traditional from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, escape room anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Space NK and Harrods calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1 tomorrow.

I have H&B which I will open on the dedicated thread. My Grüum, which would have been for this thread, hasn't arrived yet so I will probably do that for jadvent, which I had debated doing anyway.

Long winded way of saying I'll probably just be lurking but am really looking forward to see all the various calendars.

Marking my place, I have Lumene, my husband a pork scratchings one and the jam one to share.

I have a yankee candle advent as an extra, looking forward to hearing about everyone's advent

I only have H&B, but DD(15) has got Hotel Chocolat, Swizzels sweets, Lego Star Wars and half-share in an old-fashioned picture calendar, following a last-minute delivery from XH. We’ve managed to offload Funko Harry Potter on DB, though I don’t know when he’ll be able to pick it up. I think opening will have to be an after school
activity, unless we manage to get up earlier.

I have a Ritual's one to open. I really need to get it out of the box and figure out how to set up the lights before tomorrow.

I've got the big boots one and Devon Wicks as I've gone nose blind on Yankee candles

Thanks for the thread @AprilLady . I've got Space NK fragrance combined with bits from a beauty box. Dd2 has ASOS.
We've also got some other random ones - a sauce one, a F&M one & Dd1 has H&M jewellery.

I have a M&S to open, but alas after dropping hints the size of Lapland the Diptyque one is not materialising sadly.

I have a Jo Malone, Dermalogica and Bare Minerals 12 day (I think I got a bit carried away watching the threads on here).

Oh and the rest of the family between them have a cheese one, sweetzy one, boots one and a massive Lindt one from Costco

I've set up the Rituals one now which was frankly a bit of a faff. It looks lovely though. Realised I need batteries for the lights so have had to send DS to the shop.

Marks & Sparks and Lumene on here ... plus I'll live vicariously watching my teens open their Glossybox and Protein calendars in the house. DH has big, fancy marzipan and praline AC this year.

I've got a few but am starting with the Lookfantastic one as I bought that first. I set it up on my bedside table and am excited for tomorrow. I also sorted out my makeup and skincare drawers in anticipation. I bought the kids chocolate advent calendars, dh has the ted baker one and for my eldest I bought one from accessorize.

For those of you who buy calendars every year do you tend to buy the same ones the following year or go for a different brand?

I have the Luxplus K-Beauty advent which I was really excited about but have noticed that it’s got a really poor rating on the website which it didn’t have when I bought it. It wasn’t very expensive so I wasn’t expecting full size products, I am hoping that poor rating are from people who had bigger expectations.

I also have Just My Look for January as it was a bargain so I have that to look forward to if my K-Beauty is a flop.
