General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread 2024

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

Carrying on the traditional from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, escape room anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Space NK and Harrods calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1 tomorrow.

I have the love child of Harrods and John Lewis and a few random other beauty boxes having already rifled through them for stocking fillers/presents for other people. I have decanted everything into a big box and will randomly take one out each day

I have the Look Fantastic calendar this year. I’ve moved it down stairs, ready for the morning, I’d forgotten how heavy it is

I decided not to have a calendar this year. So I'm here to live vicariously through you all!!

I didn’t get a beauty calendar this year as skin was getting sensitive so instead bought Sunday Riley offer & Elemis offers.

DH though has given me a surprise this morning and has refilled an old John Lewis calendar and I have the international Degusta.

I don't generally go for beauty calendars, but I have the Grüüm one this year.

Mine is the Boots premium and the Harrods fragrance. Opening that every other day.

Very restrained from my usual Liberty/Harrods fragrance/Rituals/boots + Degousta/Nespresso/Niedereggar(sp).

Saving the cash for holidays instead

DD has two chocolate ones (thanks grandparents!) And a Smiggle one. DH and I had great fun trying to match the pictures to the door shapes and guessing what's behind it.

I have last year's Vogue that DH has filled! Excited and I forgot how much I love the box 🥰

Mine are now unboxed and ready.

I usually get Sephora but peri has ruined my skin so everything causes a reaction so I have got the grüum one in the hope I will find some products I can use that are more natural 😊

DH got me the NUXE one which looks lovely, and DD has the Soap and Glory one, so I'll update on them.
DS1 has an instant noodle one, but I don't imagine anyone will be massively excited about that except him!

Anyone opening Harvey Nichols beauty advent? I sill have not decided to open now or in January.

I will be interested in the noodle one. I tried to find one for my DS but no luck so it will be good to see what they are like for next year 😊

Strong start from M and S with a floral street perfume.

Fortnums is Delilah lip oil. really happy to try this.

Very happy with the 1st day of my Lookfantastic calendar. A full size Medik8 toner to try and a voucher for £30 off to be used on the lookfantastic website on a foreo product.

M&S way too sweet for me, so that will be donated to someone else!

But I was surprised how nice the boxes looked when I opened the velvet bag.

I really like this toner. I actually bought the LF back in September but dismantled it as I was using some of the bits for homemade calendars for DD/DSis. This is one of the products I kept for myself. I hadn't used this sort of toner before but have been impressed.

Good start at ASOS, a nice creamy nude MAC lipstick

I have an escape room one. Just looking at day one now!

I haven't opened Rituals yet but I do know what it is already. Waiting for DS to get up. I made him an AC this year with bits and pieces so I'm excited about him opening his because he doesn't know what's in any of it.

DH has a beer advent that will get opened later in the day I expect. I usually buy him the Brewdog one but thought it was poor this year so went with a different one from Virgin Wines.

I will be regifting the perfume as well.

I got a Sol de Janeiro spray in Space NK.

DD got a “Thanks, it’s Mac” Mac Lipstick in ASOS.

Both full sized.

We also have Bonne Maman (jam) and some chocolate ones for other kids, who aren’t up yet
