Looking for your favourite British skincare brands, made in the UK and with good ethics, employing local people especially. Can anyone recommend anything? Bonus points if it's budget friendly! Thank you 😊

purelakes.co.uk
They make it in the lakes district and use pure products hence the name !

Emma Hardie. The cleansing balm is gorgeous. Made in Britain, cruelty free, and also stocked online by M&S.

Pusspot · 18/11/2024 09:19

Sorry it's not a budget brand, but often has discounts eg Black Friday/M&S promotions.

TubularBeIIs · 18/11/2024 09:55

what a shame, I can't get in to their website for some reason. Won't let me get in without accepting cookies but there is nothing to accept. Not very professional.

Ren is now owned by Unilever so that may not remain the case

Oh no! Shame.

Deathraystare · 18/11/2024 10:41

Liz Earle? Isle of Wight but probably bought up or owned by someone.

Liz Earle? Isle of Wight but probably bought up or owned by someone.

Owned by big brands for about 15 years, sadly. First Avon and now an American company, I think. Good shout though as I certainly used to market itself as local, natural brand.

Upcircle are very good. Plus they do refills and a loyalty scheme

ImWearingPantaloons · 18/11/2024 18:50

Another mention for Highland Soap Comoany and Arran organic

Also Faith in Nature?

frugalkitty · 18/11/2024 19:33

Obvs skincare is my go to, Sian who owns it is passionate about high quality skincare, and it's plastic free. Buy direct or can order on the Superdrug website.

Luckingfovely · 18/11/2024 19:52

Also Smoom who make fab moisturisers called Face Floss plus other lovely things.

Tina159 · 18/11/2024 19:55

Trevarno, gorgeous Cornish brand

and I love Green people too, not as luxurious as Trevarno though.

LilacLilyBird · 18/11/2024 19:58

I had no idea there were so many

I've used REN, Medik8, Elemis, Neals Yard, Body Shop and Liz Earle before she sold it on

Boots and Superdrug are UK based so I've definitely used their own products

LilacLilyBird · 18/11/2024 20:01

Disciple is UK based with nice face oils

fuckthemail · 20/11/2024 20:53

Wow thanks all I've only just checked back. Am going to need a full afternoon to finish browsing these but thanks so much and hope it helps others too

Facetheory - especially if you prefer more actives/less of a 'natural' angle.

emily012 · 16/12/2024 13:13

You could try The Ordinary or Neal's Yard Remedies—they’re British, ethical, and have great products! For budget-friendly options, Simple Skincare is also worth a look.
