Please help me buy a winter dress...

Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help me to choose a winter dress, as I am going mad and cannot find anything. I have been looking online but I find some websites so difficult, even using filters, I end up with lots of choices that they are absolutely not what I want, pages and pages of them...

I am looking for a winter dress, by winter I mean, not a fabric that is too thin, also, that I can put a tshirt underneath to add warmth if needed. Ideally midi Or long. Something simple that I can wear to work but that can be dressed up a bit for weekends too.

To add more complication...I've had my colours done recently, I am a blue autumn, so I am not considering any color...best colors for me are the ones from a peacock, also dark brown, red/brick and different types of green, but I have quite a lot of green clothes already, so I'd prefer something red, blue or dark brown...any ideas? Does this dress exist??

Challenge accepted 😂What about this lovely red knitted dress from COS? There'a a nice green one from Mango too, but you said no green....

This is lovely:-

Also try putting search requirements on eg Next website and it gives a few options.

This:

is gorgeous. As is the red cord on the same site.

Thank you for the suggestions, I like the COS one.

The Monsoon one is lovely but absolutely no black for me (my worst colour)

I like the Next one and it says blue but looks more like black to me? If navy it is definitely too dark, my ideal navy is a bit lighter and a toch warm.

I am difficult!

Fortunately they have other dresses! I do particularly like this one:

I love the dresses in the Justine Tabak website! If my budget was higher, I would definitely buy some from them!

Have a look at the Kate Barton website. I have my eye on the cobalt blue needlecord dress for Christmas. Good quality and not too much choice.

ANagsHead · 14/11/2024 13:21

Okay … How about this from

Plumo?

Less money, admittedly cotton but it looks weighty and there’d be room for an entire wardrobe of thermal tops and a slip underneath.

Lentilweaver · 14/11/2024 13:41

What is your budget? That's crucial.

DreamyRedNewt · 14/11/2024 14:15

Ideally not more than £80, but could spend a bit more if I absolutely love it and it is quite wearable

I just bought this one from Zara. I'm 5ft 5 so it's longer on me than on the model. It's really flattering, feels more expensive and can easily be dressed up or down.

M&S have a warm navy blue cord dress at the moment. It also comes in a warm red. I tried it on but I did not like the patch pockets on the breast (why????). I'm an autumn too but a soft autumn so I feel your pain when it comes to finding nice non-black or cold navy dresses.

Love this one, design and price! Also available in two suitable colors. I've got a cardi that could go well with it. I think I will be buying this one. Thank you!

I saw them too and they were on my potential buys list too!

I love the Boden one.

I've got that dress, though in a totally different colour/pattern from John Lewis. It's very nice.
