How would you style this skirt for Christmas?

I saw a skirt and instantly fell in love with it, I’ve bought it in black. We’re going out to a hotel for Christmas Day but I can’t decide how to style it? I have black woollen cardigans in dark green and deep red that are waist length with ankle boots, I also have body suit that’s a cross over front with chiffon sleeves and sandals. For context 5’9” size 8/10.

Like the model I think would be nice. I think you’d be able to pick up a similar kind of top from H&M.

It's a gorgeous swishy skirt, and I have no advice other than to suggest heels and bag in a bolder colour?

I wouldn’t wear a cardi with it would get a nice cream wrap top either long or 3/4 sleeved

I don't think I'd put a bright or light colour with it.

Ideally plain black, maybe a short sleeve high neck jumper. Or if not black a rich plum or burgundy or dark forest green. Definitely nothing fussy on the top, just plain not patterned.

Love the skirt. Think it needs to be worn with just a small plain top though.
I wouldn't wear a cardigan. How about a short sleeved, tight jumper if you want warmth.

for Christmas, I would wear a deep coloured polo neck. either jersey or lovely cashmere. With suede boots

A round neck buttoned cardigan, neat but not tight, which sits just on the waist line. 3/4 sleeve would look good.

A plain black top will really showcase that beautiful shirt. It's styled perfectly in the photo and adding a cardigan will dilute the effect. I would actually go for a short, fitted, fine knit sleeveless polo or halter top (I don't feel the cold).

OP that skirt is gorgeous, I might have to buy that myself. I would go plain black fitted tshirt or maybe even a long sleeved one. I used to have a similar shape skirt when I was younger and it drove DH mad because it left a trail of sequins everywhere 😂

Zara do a little black short sleeved knit top every winter, it would be perfect with it. It’s a gorgeous skirt.

ETA I had a look and they have them, the code for it is 8851007. Sold out in some sizes but they will restock or do a similar version as they have them every year.

Thanks everyone. I’ve gone for a waist length short sleeved knitted crew neck and I’ll wear my black suede boots. I do love a swishy Christmas skirt.

I'd wear it with a grey sweatshirt, otherwise a grey or black cashmere sweater. Keep it simple.

It looks devine with the plain black top they have styled it with.

It’s really nice, and what you’re wearing in the top half sounds nice. I would definitely wear boots not sandals though. My feet would be bloody freezing.

It's gorgeous but all black doesn't feel Christmasy!
I would have gone for the red or green but I appreciate the black would be easier to style the rest of the year.

I think I'd go for a Burgundy jump, a light weight one with some sequin detail
