What do you wear in winter?

I tend to be cold so wear jumper after jumper. Usually plain and simple in different colours πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I can’t help feeling attracted by the dresses or shirts. More colourful, more patterns, just much more pretty.
But how can you not get cold ?!?

So please tell me, what do you wear now that the weather is getting colder that is still pretty but still keeps you warm??
Any ideas welcome!

A vest!

Ohwhatshoestobuy · 28/09/2024 20:09

Jumper dresses and leggings or thick tights 😊

A vest!

I can’t say I find that warm enough!
I wear a vest under my jumpers and I often feel cold.

Maybe I just need to accept this is my lot for the winter….

OK, so today (SE), 16Β° this afternoon, 3Β° this morning and a light frost.

Jeans, loafers, popsocks, vest, Jersey wrap top, Jersey jacket, cashmere gauze scarf. Too the scarf off by 11.30ish. I was not cold. No heating on.

AnOldCynic · 28/09/2024 20:44

An extra bearskin.

JudyP · 28/09/2024 20:47

Uniqlo heat tech under layers - I have so many and some are even too warm for work ( where I am always cold) so different colours for under different tops

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 28/09/2024 20:48

Long sleeve thermal scoop neck top underneath sweater or hoodie with joggers / fleecy leggings or sweater
Dress with fleecy tights .

mynameiscalypso · 28/09/2024 20:50

A thermal base layer - long sleeved thick thermal top, thermal leggings or tights, thermal socks. Rest of my outfit over the top!

Turnitoffnonagain · 28/09/2024 20:50

Leggings or yoga pants, thin thermal tops (M&S) under a tunic or non chunky jumper (floral or otherwise) socks, boots. Cardi or gilet on top when v cold. Scarf or cashmere neck warmers from Turtle Doves when v v cold.

Get a pure wool coat, they're very warm and always look great

DreamHolidays · 28/09/2024 20:55

So basically what makes the biggest difference is a nice thermal base layer!
I have some of the thin M and S ones but I’m still cold so maybe I need to investigate some other ones first.

I wear jumpers with thermal vests underneath. I have dozens of sweaters, some are pretty. I also wear wool dresses with thermal tights

Wishboneswishes · 28/09/2024 20:57

I had this exact problem last winter. I’m always in dresses in summer and was always in jeans and tops come winter, I hate them!
This year I’ve bought several jumpsuits, some thicker in cord fabric, long sleeves, short sleeves and some in jersey fabric. I’m not wearing jeans this year!

DeepBlueSeas · 28/09/2024 20:57

I don’t wear dresses in winter.

I’m a jumper, jeans and boots/trainers person. In cold weather. I usually buy jumpers with wool in them for the extra warmth & wear a lightweight thermal (long sleeve or short) underneath. The ones from Uniqlo are good & don’t feel bulky under jumpers.

Other than that, it’s a warm coat that matters the most. Oh and a hat and gloves!

Doggymummar · 28/09/2024 20:57

Jumper dresses, thermal tights, thermal base layers. If I go out I have two teddy bear coats, camel and black, hats scarves leather gloves

I have winter dresses… I wear merino leggings under them with wool socks. I have a couple merino slips. I have dresses!

FortunataTagnips · 28/09/2024 21:04

Where do you get merino leggings, @LunaTheCat ?

henlake7 · 28/09/2024 21:07

I really must get myself some decent thermals.
Anything works as a base layer though....currently wearing a vest top and t shirt from Primark under my jumper!

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 28/09/2024 21:12

I bought a thermal tshirt from M&S last winter and wear it under fine knit jumpers when I'm wearing skirts or trousers.

I put up with cold legs and just wear thick opaque tights and thick socks with my boots, but when my nipples get cold it's so bloody painful and if my feet get cold that's it. So it's always thick coats too.

If I'm wearing jeans I have a really thick, chunky jumper I tend to wear.

I always wear a scarf too, and a hat if it's really cold (I have a fedora, a wooly hat would make my hair frizzy).

The extra warm ones from Uniqlo are great

RomainingToBeSeen · 28/09/2024 21:19

Where do you get merino slips @LunaTheCat - they sound exactly what I need. 😊

DreamHolidays · 28/09/2024 21:20

@CapaciousHag I love your suggestions!

Out of my price range unfortunately 😒

@LunaTheCat another one wondering where you get the merino slip…

Ive been wondering about the merino base layers from outdoor shops too. Albeit quite pricey though.
