Help me smell expensive

I've been upgrading my wardrobe to 'quiet luxury' type brands via Vinted. V satisfying.

I've got a birthday coming up and I want a perfume (or dupe of a perfume) that whispers-not-screams expensive. I lean towards woody scents, if that's any help.

Thank you, perfumistas

Féminité du Bois, if you like cedar.

I love this perfume. For about two years it was my daily perfume and I am now thinking I need another bottle.

I notice TK Maxx currently have a lot of Byredo perfumes in store. Anyone recommend any of those?

Shay and blue. I have a few of their scents and I've been asked so many times what I'm wearing!!!

A Penhaligons perfume “library” might be a good idea. There are about 6 testers for £50 I believe.

Wow didn’t know Byredo was in TKs! Their most popular ones are Gypsy Water and Mojave Ghost, both lovely.

MFK Oud Satin Mood and 749 def smell of money. Agree with Portrait of a Lady which is beautiful, very elegant.

For the love of god not Bacarat Rouge or the Zara dupe which is even worse.

Def look at Le Labo. Am not a Santal fan but they have a lovely Vetvier one and a tea one.

Me too but the Shiseido formulation was better ...

@MuchasSmoochas saw them yesterday in two London stores. They are not on the website though and I can't remember which ones they had.

Tom Ford Black Orchid is currently on the website though.

Thanks @Choux . Tom Ford Black Orchid - love it on the dry down but the top truffle notes at the start are 🤢

M&S orange blossom & amber. Ssshhh. My secret

Agree with Zara. The Jo Malone collection. I LOVE the London one. It’s a dupe of something JM and gorgeous. Is woody too.

Aromatics Elixir by Clinique. The original one. It's top notes are Chypre which gives that classic rich aroma. It's akin to being wrapped in swathes of coppery velvet.

I like several perfumes from Gallivant, all named after cities. Their sample sets are a fairly good price. Do they smell expensive? I can't answer that.

Otherwise, I'd start with Hermes. My favourite is Vetiver Tonka, and that really is quite expensive.

I use this but not the perfume. It's too strong. The shower gel followed by the body lotion is absolutely divine on it's own and lasts all day.
