Curly haircut was worth the money!

Got mine done today; more expensive than a regular cut but I'm so pleased
Nice not to walk out the salon hating it or having to tie it up or realise it's lopsided

Just wish all hairdressers could cut curly hair!

Did you have the dry cut ring by ring? I've been looking into it and wondering if I should.

Crazykefir · 04/09/2024 14:41

What salon and stylist?

No - he alters as needed so doesn't always do curl by curl

Had my curly hair cut 6 weeks ago and i can only just now wear it down...it was a disaster

OldTinHat · 04/09/2024 14:55

I had my first ever curly cut a year ago and it was worth every single penny. The only horrible bit was hanging upside down for half an hour whilst she dried it!

She said I'd probably not need it doing again for 12 months and she was absolutely right.

So worth it. You need a strong technical cut for curly hair. So much happier with how I look now I’ve found a hairdresser who can do it properly

I'm so jealous, your hair is absolutely gorgeous & lovely condition!
I so wish I had thick, longer hair. Mine has always been fine and can never get it below my shoulders :-(

Before and after

This is incredible!!!

RaspberryBeretxx · 04/09/2024 15:29

Ooh, it looks amazing! I keep wondering whether to get one. If anyone has had a good one in the Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire area I'd love to hear where!

At the moment, I cut my own hair as it's so pointless going to normal hairdressers. They always say I need " long layers to drag the curl down" so they basically put in no layers and I end up looking like a frizzy christmas tree!

MigGril · 04/09/2024 15:29

I can't grow mine long, the weight is to much on my head. But my hairdressers I've had over 20 years has always been able to cut it really well. I'm always pleased with my short curry hair cut. 😍

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 04/09/2024 15:33

That looks great OP! DD has curly hair. I've been tempted to take her 3 hours to a hairdresser in Bristol to get it cut properly and for them to teach her how to look after it. If anyone has a recommendation for the Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire/North London area, I'd be very grateful to avoid the drive!

Mine is actually incredibly fine! I have quite a bit of it but each strand is really fine and fragile

@spikeandbuffy24 your hair is absolutely glorious and the cut really has enhanced the curl.

(I've always wanted long natural curls but my hair grows veeeerrry sloooowlllly and getting anyone to perm these days is a nightmare, so green with envy!)

TinyYellow · 04/09/2024 15:51

That’s good to hear because I had a curly cut once and it was a complete waste of money. The normal hairdresser who charges a third of the price does a better job.

I'm in Surrey and am planning on doing this too - probably the same salon!

I haven't had my hair cut for a decade so it's about time....

HoppingPavlova · 04/09/2024 15:58

One of mine has really curly hair. Has it cut at a curly hairdresser and they do dry cut curl by curl (they have to time it so hair due to be washed, which is only every few weeks). Takes hours. Literally hours. Always looks great when they have it done. Costs a fortune but you can see why with the time taken, a ‘normal’ hairdresser will have had several clients through in the same time.

whosthefoolnow · 04/09/2024 16:00

Oh wow, you've got great hair. As someone with dreadful hair I'm very envious.

MrsCarson · 04/09/2024 16:03

I have a hairdresser who has curly hair herself, so understands the way it shrinks up and falls She does a really good cut, I only get it cut about once a year. She does colour it for me year round and it's in very good condition. Last cut I think I went too short (I got what I asked for). It now rests on my shoulders when dry, but luckily it grows quite fast.

Thank you. It was a longer U shape before but I said I wanted to sacrifice length to get volume and have a fuller bottom layer
Been 10 months since my last cut!
