I like lots of those Joules dresses, but I couldn't wear them.

I am thinking of this dress (the black and white one called Alice)

With a short black jacket and these shoes which are much more pink in the flesh

I think I may be losing the plot... and can't help wondering whether that dress would only get worn once.

This one from Boden could be very nice and might be a multiple-use dress...

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 20/04/2008 14:04

ah no you are way off the mark, lapin. i loathe hippie stuff. it's all about the structure for me. sloaney too classic/mature though, long horsey lines etc.
i like old-school belgian and japanese designers, taking form and fucking with it. i might add that i am wearing jeans and a red twinset cardie at the moment. but for days when my daughter isn't vomiting everywhere...

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 20/04/2008 14:05

i do like that dress again, jackieno, you are on the ball methinks. so what's the problem everyone has with that uttam dress btw?

Just a clash of styles, I suspect, aitch.

Cod and LL - I love this one too, and suspect you might. Versatile colour, or just dull, do you think?

Yes - not good for those with norks.

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 20/04/2008 14:19

erm...

ann demeulemeister, dries van noten, yohji, comme, costume nationale, agnes b, dvf, orla kiely, sonia rykiel, some 6876 despite it being a boy label... that sort of thing. there's other stuff as well that i can't think of and can't spell At All. lots of weirdy labels from TK Maxx as well, before it got utterly keech.

so a mix, really. and bits and bobs i've had for years, stuff from jumbles etc. generally separates cos of apple shape, tops replaced from high st, skirts, coats etc from selfridges etc sales.

actually i'm getting a bit bummed out by the fact that i haven't worn any of it for an age. feeling a bit bleh.

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 20/04/2008 14:20

is that dress for you, jackie? i like it but i'd have to nail Audrey Hepburn to it to make it look good.

JackieNo · 20/04/2008 14:21

Aitch - I did wonder about Wall but most of their dresses are very unstructured, so probably not what you're after.

JackieNo · 20/04/2008 14:22

No - I could never wear that dress, sadly - I'm far too large all over, and in particular in the nork department. I just saw it on the Debenhams website and loved it.

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 20/04/2008 14:23

oh, and yes, dd is sick. never seen her this bad actually, it's also making me v sad. raging temp, vomming, isn't drinking enough, can't settle for a sleep, has 'jaggy skin'. also she doesn't know what vomming is so keeps saying 'oh no mummy i did a poo in my mouth' which is making me feel queasy.

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 20/04/2008 14:26

never heard of wall either, they're absolutely the sort of thing that does nothing for me. i'm only 5 foot 5.

JackieNo · 20/04/2008 14:30

Yes - I think of them as clothes for tall architects, for some reason. But I do like the look of some of their things, just not really the prices.

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 20/04/2008 14:31

and senior speech therapists...

JackieNo · 20/04/2008 14:37

Did you see that Anthropologie now ships to the UK?

No sleeves, but how about this?

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 20/04/2008 14:41

interesting, but all those dresses are too sleeveless for me. i should probably have been more specific about the upper arm situ, i am not toned rigtht at the top so would rather conceal. i actually like sleeves, which is a pita. nothing on ebay from dvf either, at least nothing nicer than what i've got.

i'd keep ds's kisses well away from dd tbh lapin. she just told me she needs to see a doctor, which i thought was terribly precocious until i realised she meant doctor who.

JackieNo · 20/04/2008 14:49

lol at Doctor Who. Poor thing, I hope she feels better soon.

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 20/04/2008 14:51

so WHY all the shuddering at uttam? is their stuff bad quality? and what's the joules quality like?

JackieNo · 20/04/2008 14:59

I don't really know - tbh, I've never seen any of the uttam stuff in the flesh, so to speak. I just like the look of it - it's a bit different. And cute girls' stuff too.
