I think the last 2 might be a bit low necked for her, we 3 sucked the oomph out of 'em you know

JackieNo · 26/05/2008 19:27

I do know how that can be. Would she consider chicken fillets or similar?

Hmm - jacket. Or maybe a pretty cardigan? When and where is the wedding? V formal, or not so much?

JackieNo · 26/05/2008 19:28

(by when and where I don't mean give me the address - I mean an August wedding in the south in a hotel will need something different from a wedding in a week, in Scotland in a church, for example)

Moosma · 26/05/2008 19:39

It's in a field in July. The dress code is "It's a picnic but a wedding too so no jeans" but she will be groom's mother so needs to be posh-ish.

I will be wearing this with a black mini cardigan thing so she mustn't be too similar or clash!

Moosma · 26/05/2008 19:40

She might get some fillets for filling a dress to make it hang right but I don't think she's over keen on showing too much skin there though IYSWIM.

JackieNo · 26/05/2008 20:08

Yup - got it. Would depend which dress she goes with, but maybe something like this sort of shape would work? Formal fabric, but quite soft.

Moosma · 26/05/2008 20:11

That lik didn't work, was it this one?

Moosma · 26/05/2008 20:13

A white jacket would go wouldn't it? What about this one? She tried it on the other day and liked it.

JackieNo · 26/05/2008 20:14

If she can get, and likes, the out of stock Laura Ashley one, I bet this goes with it - but could be a bit too similar to your outfit.

Ooh - the stems etc in the Laura Ashley dress look grey/blue - how about something like this to go with it?

JackieNo · 26/05/2008 20:16

Yes - white would work, but would it clash with the bride? I'd be inclined to steer clear of white at a wedding, except as a background colour.

JackieNo · 26/05/2008 20:18

Not sure what's up with that link - I've had this before, maybe it's because it's via an email to people who've bought before. It's a v-neck, soft velvet jacket, with a kind of chiffony tie belt. But only available in 'fig', kind of dark plum colour in the size 8.

JackieNo · 26/05/2008 20:19

There are lots of lovely white linen jackets around, so if white would be OK, then you should have no problem finding one - that one you linked to is lovely.

JackieNo · 26/05/2008 20:21

This is pretty, and obviously aimed at the wedding market.

JackieNo · 26/05/2008 20:23

Pretty cardigan

choosyfloosy · 26/05/2008 22:49

Moosma · 27/05/2008 09:14

Thanks Jackie, we're going to Exeter tomorrow so will see if that Laura Ashley dress is in stock, then I may come back for more help!

JackieNo · 27/05/2008 12:48

Good luck. Hope you find something.

fransmom · 27/05/2008 15:33

Jackie, in the end she bought this one. It's a very flattering shape, expecially with some magic underwear! She also tried this one but it was a bit too clingy on the lumpy bits!

JackieNo · 28/05/2008 22:10

Ooh - lovely, I like that. Glad she found something.

margoandjerry · 04/06/2008 21:24

I've got a nice wedding to go to in August and wonder if anyone can suggest the right shoes and shawl type thing for my outfit which is basically a quite plain and boring but vaguely elegant navy blue dress with an amazing aqua and gold necklace. Pics on my profile.

The necklace is the key to the outfit so I think I want to keep everything else quite plain. I'm thinking navy or aqua shoes. I have a pair of navy spiky heels but they're not really me. My preferred shoe look is a bit more interesting with a slight 40s look. Hobbs is perfect but they can't help me this season.

As for shawly thing I'm thinking something very light (for arm covering purposes only) but navy again might be a bit much? Don't want aqua as I think it would kill the necklace. But gold? How do I avoid looking like I've just won the marathon and have picked up one of those tinfoil flora blankets?

Sorry, dress pics look crap - it's navy crepe with a deep v neck, bias cut and about mid calf.

shreddies · 04/06/2008 22:38

lovely necklace!
