Is anyone else finding the new Uniqlo online store completely unusable?

Or is it just me and my browser?

The menu has disappeared following the makeover, and, no, I don't want to browse by putting terms in the search bar. Being able to access the sale would be pretty helpful too.

I found the last site/app just as annoying. Are you on the app version? I agree it's not at all instinctive to do this but clicking on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom brings up a two column menu of categories ('sale' is one of them) .

paristotokyo · 17/08/2024 22:17

Yeah, it's annoying. If you want the options to come up for each category you have to click the middle button (magnifying glass symbol)

WhereAreWeNow · 17/08/2024 22:24

It took me ages to find the menu (magnifying glass icon - which is not where I'd expect to find the menu) and I'm finding that it can't load all the pages. On the old site, I'd click on sale and then would scroll through for quite a long time to get through all the sale stuff. Now I see a few dozen items and then it's just loading/buffering.
Very annoying. Maybe it's no bad thing given how much money I fritter away in uniqlo!

JaneFallow · 18/08/2024 00:19

Not using app version and glad it's not just me. Cannot believe they went live with this version - must have bombed in user testing.

Yes! Was on it last night and could not work out how to find the menu.

Hucklemuckle · 18/08/2024 06:38

But right there on the front page it tells you where to click

I'll find my way around the new site eventually but the site is really laggy for me. If I click anywhere it takes ages to load and freezes all the other tabs too while it's doing it. It's not my internet, we get really good speeds despite being in the H&I. I might try a different browser next time.

I don't want to search by product or key word. I want to see what they are selling, what collaborations are live, and browse from there. It fundamentally misses what this user comes to their site to do.

@JaneFallow
But you don't have to use a keyword search.

Just click on the magnifying glass which has been pointed out to you with a big sign saying click here and you get this menu page.

What more do you need?

The menu literally shows you exactly what you've said you want. All the options and the collabs

I agree. If they want to sell items that we do not specifically search for, they are losing potential business.

TiredArse · 18/08/2024 15:26

It’s awful. Finding the menu isn’t intuitive, it lags, and it’s so slow.

minipie · 18/08/2024 15:32

Agree OP. It took me a (frustrating) while to figure out that I needed to use the magnifying glass to get the menu. Now that I know, I guess it’s ok to use, but still think they’d do a lot better having a menu symbol like every other blooming website.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 18/08/2024 15:37

It took me a while to sort out the magnifying glass was the key, but once I got used to that function, seems OK. I like the fact you can see the clothes more clearly and they've given some thought to the way the garments are displayed, including the video segments.

HOW did you find it hard. There is literally a big black box on the middle of the screen telling you what to do 🤣
I wish someone would explain why it was hard. Is the massive big box not appearing on some screens perhaps?

weebarra · 18/08/2024 16:46

I was irritated by it. Obviously I can use it but it's not instinctual

weebarra · 18/08/2024 16:47

I think it's because I'm used to getting the categories from the menu rather than the search bar.

YouSayChorizoIsayChorizo · 18/08/2024 17:02

I'm so glad you posted this OP. I went to check if the A/W stock had started to come in and thought the website had crashed!

As well as the tiresome search button replacing the at-a-glance menu layout:

  • The sizing charts have become even more unusable. I gave up trying to figure out trouser sizes - I fall between M and L but it didn't show them both together.
  • There's some kind of membership scheme - not sure if it's different from having an account - not much explanatory text
  • In the absence of a link that takes you back up to the level you just came from, I'm constantly pressing the back button - a user experience fail to me - and ending up back at the home page. Which shows a sports bra, a weird sculpture and a painting of Andy Warhol.
No doubt there's more, but I'm not doing their beta testing for them! What a shame.
Jennywren2000 · 18/08/2024 17:11

Totally agree. Wanted to get some things but gave up because I couldn’t navigate the site

No, it doesn't. There's a magnifying glass - the usual icon for a search field - and the overlay tells you to "search by product or keyword", which is what we expect a magnifying-glass search facility to do.

It doesn't say "click here for the site menu". And it isn't a usual menu icon.

If your enthusiastic defence of this design flaw means you worked on the website, I'd suggest you get in early tomorrow to raise concerns!

Also: accessibility 😡 34% accessibility score (should be over 70) with 272 failed text alternatives.

Well ideally a menu without a game of hide and seek, or failing that, a big black box that says you'll find the menu here if you can be arsed to click through here, rather than, 'click here to search by product or key word'.

Corrrr. You got me 🙄

VEGGIEMAZZER1 · 20/08/2024 13:07

I love UNIQLO. But, their new website is unusable, I can't navigate it either - totally agree with you

tobee · 20/08/2024 15:06

M&S recently is similarly annoying but in the opposite way! It's no longer straightforward to find the department you're after and now you have to press the search icon a couple of times to get them to pop up! "Edits" and "what's new" etc are easy to find conversely 🤨

tobee · 20/08/2024 15:07

M&S app that is!
