Help - own wedding in 4 weeks and nothing to wear!

Very last minute - circumstances have rushed things along. Basically, I'm now getting married late September in a small registry office ceremony. Dresses (choice of 3, all currently owned) are either champagne chiffon midi, oyster/pinky midi dress, or white broderie (fifties style) ending just below knee. I'm late forties, larger sized (16-18 on a good day), 5'7 with brown bobbed hair.

I need advice on what to put in hair! No veils, but do I need a headpiece? Have a hatinator like this one in an off-white that can be customised to suit whichever dress, but is it right for the bride!? Panicking a bit....! Please inundate me with your advice and ideas!

Wear what makes you feel beautiful. Some really pretty head jewellery about as an alternative. Etsy is a good place to start

spottedinthewilds · 17/08/2024 20:56

Do you have photos of the dresses.

How exciting! You can get some wonderful advice on here?

Do you have a budget if you were to buy something extra special?

JoyceMeadowcroft · 17/08/2024 21:58

The dresses are these. Could prob also look at something up to about 150/200 but no time to save for more!

Congratulations!

What is right for YOU is what is right for the bride.

I think all those dresses are beautiful, and I think the fascinator/hatinator in the picture looks lovely.

Mossstitch · 17/08/2024 22:08

Definitely agree with @GettingStuffed........gorgeous, have a lovely day💐

JoyceMeadowcroft · 17/08/2024 22:11

@GettingStuffed those are beautiful - thank you!

I love the everpretty one. What about a 'fancy' headband?

piccolorhinoceros · 17/08/2024 22:22

Contrary to PP I don't like the Everpretty one (for your wedding day, at least) but the other two are lovely. What about a bridal hairband, e.g. Here? Bit more modern

NoNoNona · 17/08/2024 22:23

The long-sleeved one is lovely.
If you are having flowers could you get a floral headpiece?

WashableVelvet · 17/08/2024 22:34

The everpretty one is lovely!
If you do want to to go more ‘wedding’, I got my dress on eBay for £170 second hand and it was fantastic. Worth checking out the options even if just to confirm you like your own dress best! Maybe this?

Onekidnoclue · 17/08/2024 22:34

congratUlations! Dresses are fab.

the hat is very “wedding guest”. I’d agree with pp that “hair Jewellery” is more bridal. Or just something like this that’s a bit more bridal. www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1509616507/bridal-headband-with-delicate-handmade?ref=listing_page_ad_row-3&frs=1&sts=1&plkey=7bd48e2dd2fc8465307f5e57733644199b8fc571%3A1509616507&listing_id=1509616507&listing_slug=bridal-headband-with-delicate-handmade

KickAssAngel · 17/08/2024 22:41

I think those dresses are all lovely and you can choose whichever one you like best. I'm very envious of you owning all 3 of them. With something nice in your hair and since flowers to hold you'll look amazing.

Is there anyone you'd like to coordinate with? E g. Will you have a bridesmaid in a certain style or color of dress that might sway the decision? Otherwise, any of those look great imo.

JoyceMeadowcroft · 17/08/2024 22:52

No formal bridesmaids - youngest daughter (9) is wearing a pale green dress with flowers on it from Next though. (Teen child yet to pick anything!)

Definitely thinking hair jewellery/clips is way forwards. Any advice on which stay better in thin hair? (I'm blessed with every advantage at the moment - got to love peri-menopause!)

Ellmau · 17/08/2024 22:55

I would say not the crochet one, it's got a bit of a Sunday school dress look about it.

The Everpretty wrap dress looks the most bridal IMO.

worcesterpear · 17/08/2024 22:57

I like the pinky/oyster midi dress best but they all look nice. I wouldn't wear the hat thing but like the hair pins that Getstuffed linked to.

aibutohavethisusername · 17/08/2024 23:02

I like the crochet one best!

Wowzel · 17/08/2024 23:04

I like the crochet one best, with a sparkly head band or accessory

Ineffable23 · 17/08/2024 23:05

The crochet collar one is my favourite and agree that hair jewellery sounds like a plan though I am not experienced enough to advise on the execution!

Manyshelves · 18/08/2024 03:00

GettingStuffed · 17/08/2024 22:04

I love the long sleeve one. How about something like this for your hair
https://www.libertyinlove.co.uk/products/cosmos-rose-gold-crystal-pearl-hair-pins-set-of-3

Yes to this, love these and dress. It’s gorgeous

Smartiepants79 · 18/08/2024 03:10

I would also suggest that you definitely have a bouquet as I think that really sets you apart as a bride.
Have a lovely wedding.

Garlicfest · 18/08/2024 03:13

I prefer the white 'crochet' dress, too - also the one @RaspberryWhirls linked, if you fancy yet another dress!

I think it'd look great with a white floral headband - but £245???!!

This one's £12.99.

Smartiepants79 · 18/08/2024 03:17

Ooh and I would also make the effort to make sure I’d had my nails and hair done so I looked my absolute best.
