Help - own wedding in 4 weeks and nothing to wear!

Very last minute - circumstances have rushed things along. Basically, I'm now getting married late September in a small registry office ceremony. Dresses (choice of 3, all currently owned) are either champagne chiffon midi, oyster/pinky midi dress, or white broderie (fifties style) ending just below knee. I'm late forties, larger sized (16-18 on a good day), 5'7 with brown bobbed hair.

I need advice on what to put in hair! No veils, but do I need a headpiece? Have a hatinator like this one in an off-white that can be customised to suit whichever dress, but is it right for the bride!? Panicking a bit....! Please inundate me with your advice and ideas!

Tried on these two (the two preferred contenders). With no shapewear etc - I'm definitely preferring the white as look quite belly heavy in the long sleeved!

The white looks better on you!

piccolorhinoceros · 18/08/2024 20:24

Sticking with the white, although I'd still like to see the Debenhams one on. It is daywear, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Presumably the wedding is during the day. It's very elegant, very demure. Absolutely not too white for your colouring, if anything it's better than the long sleeved dress which is a bit too similar to your skin tone.

Saxendi · 18/08/2024 20:29

The long sleeved one is gorgeous, looks lovely on you!

TwinklyNight · 18/08/2024 23:46

I like the long sleeved dress that you shared, it looks really comfortable and floaty and bridal. Both would work, though I'd change the black belt if you wear the white cotton eyelet one. I had a registry wedding, I wore a cream suit and pearl hair combs similar to these ones, and pearl earrings and necklace. Shoulder length hair just held back on each side with the combs.

Enjoy your wedding day. 🙂

Tegen have lovely hair accessories. https://tegenaccessories.co.uk/collections/
All sorts…worth a browse.
VV Rouleaux have some lovely things too…expensive, but the site might give ideas.

Ellmau · 19/08/2024 07:55

On, no 2 (the white one) looks much better. But change the dark belt.

honkifyalikebeans · 19/08/2024 08:00

I much prefer the white, I'm suprised the other one had been so popular (but yes, loose the belt or get another colour)

piccolorhinoceros · 19/08/2024 10:08

What are you thinking for shoes OP?

Lakeyloo · 19/08/2024 10:10

The long sleeved dress is absolutely beautiful. Can you get a florist to make you a floral hair comb/clip to match your bouquet ?

Onekidnoclue · 24/08/2024 07:57

Oh my god. You have a great figure. I love the white. Screams English rose garden. Very chic and timeless. Plus I’m sure you could dye and wear again.
id go for a colourful bouquet. White belt. Blue shoes as your something blue and a white jazzy hair thing. You’ll look gorgeous. Poss have a cropped faux fur jacket in white on standby if you start freezing to death in any outside bits.

yumyum33 · 24/08/2024 08:03

I think you look lovely but I prefer the long sleeved one. It's so pretty and you will be a beautiful bride.

JoyceMeadowcroft · 25/08/2024 21:55

Thank you all! I've decided to go with white, as I just feel more comfortable in it. Baby blue belt with pearls to match buttons. Toss up between silver shoes or some creamy -goldy ones. As for bouquet - it'll be whatever ghe garden still has in flower! (Hydrangeas at current rate!)

I'm sure you'll look beautiful! Have a fantastically special day! :) ❤

RuthW · 25/08/2024 21:58

The middle one is stunning. Something else for your head though

SkaneTos · 25/08/2024 22:11

Thank you for the update, OP!
The outfit you have planned sounds lovely!
I hope you will have a wonderful day.

TwinklyNight · 25/08/2024 23:55

That sounds like a perfect solution. Plus the baby blue belt will also double as your "something blue"! Have a wonderful day getting married!

honkifyalikebeans · 26/08/2024 08:26

Yes, I'm so glad you went for the white one. You look so so nice in it (if it helps, I showed my family and they all also agreed white was nicer) have a lovely day

Ilovemyshed · 26/08/2024 08:27

JoyceMeadowcroft · 17/08/2024 21:58

The dresses are these. Could prob also look at something up to about 150/200 but no time to save for more!

The middle one is lovely. A rose in your hair in a similar colour could work. Are you having your hair done?

cinnamonda · 26/08/2024 08:56

How about one of these cream flower hair clips, would go well with a bob haircut.

congratulations and enjoy your special day 💐

The white dress is lovely, you have a nice neat waist for it. Have a fabulous day.
