Is there such a thing as proper cotton knickers that pull you in abit?

Honestly I was fooled into those big bamboo knickers that everyone on instagram raves about. Lovely patterns terrible product. All hot and sweaty and no control at all even though they go to your belly button. M and S are good but not the material for this weather. The chemo is just so sweaty. Any ideas?

on a similar subject any nice practical bra top things with no clasps for a 36H and not thick sweaty things. I’m going to a festival soon so I’m all about ease of getting on and off.

Sloggi control maxi

They are great

Cotton has no stretch, so the quick answer to uour question is no!

ilovecherries · 09/08/2024 20:35

I’m embarrassed to admit I love wirapa full briefs on Amazon. They aren’t sucky-in, but they ARE supportive.

Cornishpumpkinpie · 09/08/2024 20:40

I have just been on this pant journey and I have found Next high wasted knickers the absolute best. They pull me in enough for jeans to fit comfortably and for dresses to fall gracefully.

Beforehand, I struggled with dresses as I looked pregnant and no jeans were ever comfortable as I bloat a lot

best discovery of my 30’s

Those are 88% nylon. OP is specifically looking for cotton knickers because manmade fibres are too hot and sweaty.

I'm another Sloggi fan. 94% cotton and the 6% is the elastane that holds you in.

Sparkletastic · 09/08/2024 20:59

Another vote for Amazon Wirapa

rivierliedje · 09/08/2024 21:10

Thunderpants, cotton with stretch, you can get them in three rises

Another for these fantastic pants. Love them. Tried a pack first, cheapest they had. Then bought 4 or 5 more packs in the prime day cos cheap anyway and extra 5%off for however many. I reckon they'll still be ok in 20 years. So damn good.

£80 for four pairs of knickers from underpants I really can’t justify that.

Sloggis go on forever. I've got several pairs that are at least seven years old. Must have been worn and washed at least 200 times and they're still strong and soft and the elastic is as good as ever.

MassiveOvaryaction · 09/08/2024 22:40

Another vote for Sloggi here.

And have you tried a front fastening bra? I thought bralette type things with no fasteners would be easier but I struggle with lifting my arms over my head. Normal bras I have to do up the front and twizzle round. Front fastening much easier!

KirstenBlest · 09/08/2024 23:00

Was going to recommend Sloggi. Look on ebay, amazon etc for new multipacks.
Bought a few for relative who has scars from bladder surgery.

Some pull on crop top type bras have enough stretch to put on by stepping into them. Might not be cotton.

I was disappointed with sloggi before as the ones I got have a really thick sticking out seam on the inside, at the back of the bum just where I want to sit. Are all sloggi like that? I wear mine inside-out, can still feel the bump but it's not quite as annoying.

rosyvalentine · 09/08/2024 23:16

I hate the Wirapa ones from Amazon. They go far too high for me and make me feel really fat because of the extra thick layer of fabric!

I bought a load of Sloggi pants recently, having seen so many glowing recommendations on a previous thread. I don't have a problem with the pants themselves, but they're very small fitting, so I would definitely size up. I'm a 10-12 - bought a 12 and they're super tight and give me shocking VPL!

I love the M&S flexi fit ones. Decathlon sports knickers are also great, although neither are cotton unfortunately.

I’m also a 10-12, and find Sloggi really small at the leg holes.

Innersey knickers from Amazon, thicker cotton and wide waistband, no frills or silly edging that itches! Or bows for that matter.

I've had some of these for four years: I've lost three and a half stone in the meantime, but they still stay up, so I just use them as my comfy nighttime knicks now. They're very well wearing.

Wellwhatsthis · 10/08/2024 00:03

@ilovecherries i wear the Wirarpa ones that look like y fronts. Mid-rise so sit below my belly button but that’s where my fat is. Worn them for about two years and just replaced some for being faded but actually still had same support as the new ones.

Tescovalu · 10/08/2024 00:59

If you have got an H cup bra, you’re gonna need a pretty big one

taybert · 10/08/2024 08:11

I haven’t tried them but Community Clothing do 100% cotton jersey knickers. Jersey fabric has stretch because of the way it’s constructed rather than the addition of another fibre. And they’re made in Wales!

Me too! I have the super high waisted and the high waisted. They sort of smooth everything out don’t they?

I ordered knickers from CC in September 2023. They still haven't sent them and aren't answering e-mails now.
