@OhRex I have one of those neck fans, they’re a lifesaver.

We have been out to a vintage transport show today, so I wore a new dress from Frugi which I bought in the sale this week, pure cotton so really comfortable in this humid weather. The leggings are Capri length pure cotton that Yours clothing have every summer (in lots of colours) and I find them very comfortable, no chub rub and they cover knees in shorter dresses and mean you can bend down without showing too much at the back. I worked in Early Years for many years, so was always bending down!

Cardigan was Bon Marche a few years ago.

@Evenstar you look fab! Love the pattern on your dress.

Hello, you fabulous lovelies! I’m all happy because I’m on holiday with my family. We went out for breakfast and I decided to wear a dress instead of bunging on shorts and a tee shirt. Felt bluddy fabulous! Thinking on it, I usually do feel good in a dress. Particularly a maxi-dress as I love the fabric swoosh. We were out the door before I thought to take a pic of me wearing it but this is the dress, though I am older and fatter than the model. It’s got more pink on the flowers than in the pic. And it has small pockets!

I definitely have a tip for sweaty faces/necks! I sweat on the back of my neck, particularly when my hair is down, as it's thick at the back. I use those cooling scarves, the ones that you soak in cold water, rinse them out, then shake them. They feel super cold to the touch and you can shake them multiple times without re-wetting them, to get them cool again. They last for hours. Wearing one round the neck keeps you cool there, and obviously helps prevent facial sweating too. But also, if you do sweat still on your face, you can use the cool wet scarf to wipe your face and refresh!

Edited to say I think they're called cooling towels on amazon.

Girls your outfits are so lovely!

And thank you for the sweating tips, I'm off to try them all! 😊

Hello - I'm really struggling to find swimwear, can anyone help please?

I need tankini style (medical access reasons), but it needs to be:

  • long enough to cover my enormous stomach & long torso
  • have proper support for boobs but not underwired
  • not be too low cut & "booby" - I've tried a few & felt like I was going to fall out at any point!

Needs to be size 20-22, I've looked at bravissimo (for boob support) but can't squeeze into their biggest size.

Any ideas?

For some reason tankini's are so difficult to find, especially underwired.
What I'd do is check Tu, George, primark, f&f and matalan and you know they have the bikini Bras in the same print as the tankini? Wear one of those underneath the tankini. Matalan in store seem to have decent sizes near me.
I actually picked up a nice one second hand online, ebay I think, it hadn't be worn much but I couldn't find one anywhere last year.
I've had simply be Swimwear before now and it's very expensive for the quality I found to be honest. I suppose because they specialise in plus sizes but I really wasn't impressed.

Evenstar · 24/07/2024 09:45

@StickerSwap have you looked at Bonmarche there seem to be a few options https://www.bonmarche.co.uk/search/?q=Tankini

StickerSwap · 24/07/2024 10:01

Thanks @Lwrenn & @Evenstar for your ideas, unfortunately I've been round all the shops mentioned and found that either the bikinis/tankinis give little support or they don't have enough fabric so I'm spilling out of them!

I have bought one from Matalan as a last resort, but it's not a good look!

I did buy one from simply be that was more expensive, but ended up not being long enough. So annoying...

Have you looked on vinted? Sometimes sellers haven't worn them?
I was looking for a for summer but gave up, absolute pain when you consider not everyone wants a bikini or full costume they're so hard to find!

Lwrenn · 24/07/2024 10:16

@stickerswap shein has a few tankinis, very fussy looking but it's something. I'd just wear a good under wired bikini top underneath if there isn't anything else out there x

Thanks @Lwrenn I'll have a look

StickerSwap · 24/07/2024 12:46

Thanks @MissUnicorn I think you're right - it also looks like they don't go up to my cup size. I'll keep looking Smile

Evenstar · 24/07/2024 16:45

Anything here @StickerSwap looks like you can filter for underwired https://www.marisota.co.uk/shop/c/fashion/swimwear/tankinis

Update - I'd forgotten I'd ordered this from Amazon but it's just arrived.

I didn't have high hopes tbh but I think it will do - some support, long and not too booby.

Thanks for all your help!

Love the colours 🙂 It's a good idea to put cropped leggings underneath. I'd never thought of doing that, but my mum came round couple of weeks ago and she had cropped leggings under a maxi skirt and looked fab. Food for thought 🙂
