Do you use body lotions? Any to recommend?

I buy body lotion about once a year with the best intentions and then never end up using it, mainly due to laziness.
I noticed my skin has become very dry recently, especially on my legs so really need to try and make an effort. Do you use lotion or oils daily?
Anything you can recommend that will make me want to use it? I don’t mind spending a bit, infact I prefer to as a regular bottle of nivea just doesn’t appeal to me enough… Budget is £20 max, prefer things with good ingredients and no paraffin and silicones.
Thanks!!

@PortiaWithNoBreaks I'm a recent convert to Biotherm, and absolutely love the Oil Therapy version.

It's a pricey bottle but you only need a couple of pumps for the whole body, so even with daily use it's lasted for 4 months and I still have a third of a bottle left.

I've never used such a good moisturiser. Easily absorbed and my skin feels amazing.

I love this too, with the oil.

I use more than a couple of pumps!

This is one of my favourite brands! I mix the glycolic shower gel with the shower oil, which leaves you with super smooth skin, it even gets rid of bumpy skin on my arms. Then I finish off my routine with the bio-lipid body lotion. Honestly, dry skin is now a thing of the past!

I like the L'Occitane body oil.

piscofrisco · 14/06/2024 14:20

Aveeno is my regular. Cheap, effective, smells faintly almond-y.

MagicalHat · 14/06/2024 14:29

The Nivea light moisturiser in the blue bottle.
I love the smell & it makes my skin feel very soft.

ThingsWillOnlyGetBetter · 14/06/2024 15:11

Bog standard, every day and very cheap: Sainsburys Hydrating Lotion. Cheap as chips (£2.50), lightly scented and a little goes a long way. Or the Garnier Viramin C tub.

Fancy: Elemis Body Balms, Rituals Merh.

Palmers Cocoa butter lotion - have been using for about 20 years and nothing else compares imo.

Vaseline Intensive Care is good.

Agreed. It's what I always go back to, either the yellow bottle or the green Aloe Vera one is nice in the summer. Both have sink in quickly and moisturize well.

Neutrogena hydro boost in blue pump bottle.

I also use all manner of expensive unguents, but this is the best and ridiculously cheap.

Me too, the Hydro Boost Gel. Absolutely lovely stuff 😊

I love Dove or Nivea body lotions but for luxury my favourite is

I tend to ask DS for it for Christmas though as his DF works for Boots and gets a good discount. I couldn't justify paying that for it myself!

Aveeno. Very sensitive skin and it's great. Alao affordable if you get it on sale or have Costco memembership.

Johnsons baby oil 2x a week after shower and scrub

SonK · 14/06/2024 17:40

I have very sensitive skin so use Aveeno baby, Weleda baby. I also add some drops of rosehip oil in the evening for some extra hydration

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/06/2024 18:04

Yes I use it daily. The skin on my body is in good shape as a result. My go to is Vaseline Intensive Care in the yellow bottle. It's a great product and subtly scented so it doesn't interfere with fragrance if you wear it.

MagicalHat · 14/06/2024 14:29

The Nivea light moisturiser in the blue bottle.
I love the smell & it makes my skin feel very soft.

My go to as well, once I’ve used up all the Christmas, birthday gifts!

I use pure castor oil

farleysrusks · 14/06/2024 19:41

Hard to beat Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 14/06/2024 19:51

Body oil preferred to lotion and butter to lotion too.

I like L’Occitane for posh also Origins and Soap and glory too.

Justmuddlingalong · 14/06/2024 20:04

I use whatever's on special, usually from Superdrug. Currently using a Dove one.
It doesn't really matter what you use, as long as you use it regularly. Don't buy one and leave it unused in the bathroom cabinet.
I moisturise a couple of times a week and that's enough for me.

Vaseline Intensive Care is good.

Yes it is, I have been using it at bedtime on my arms and legs and the condition of my skin has improved noticeably. It is very affordable too, no strong scent and easy to rub in.
