Do you use body lotions? Any to recommend?

I buy body lotion about once a year with the best intentions and then never end up using it, mainly due to laziness.
I noticed my skin has become very dry recently, especially on my legs so really need to try and make an effort. Do you use lotion or oils daily?
Anything you can recommend that will make me want to use it? I don’t mind spending a bit, infact I prefer to as a regular bottle of nivea just doesn’t appeal to me enough… Budget is £20 max, prefer things with good ingredients and no paraffin and silicones.
Thanks!!

Aveeno is my regular. Cheap, effective, smells faintly almond-y.

This is the one I get too. It’s called ‘creamy oil’

Sanctuary Spa body butter. Absorbs really well , smells divine, not greasy or heavy.

Nivea Q10 + Vitamin C

I've never been a Nivea fan but this is great. usually on offer at supermarkets or Boots for around £6.

I also like the Garnier ones - again, a shea butter one is around £5 and there are often offers.

I 've used very pricey one (as gifts) like Clinique, L Occitaine, Molton Brown, but I still like these cheaper ones.

Korres is quite nice too. The Pure Olive ones which have added fragrance.

I used to have really dry legs, until I started using oil after a shower… still in shower, soon as I turn the water off & before drying, just oil straight onto wet skin. I use cold pressed, pure virgin Moroccan argan oil. I use it everywhere, even my face! (Great for dry heels/elbows too)
For just a lotion, I like garnier 7 day moisturiser, the Shea butter one is ok, but I prefer the aloe Vera one.

One of my absolute favourites smells divinely of cocoa, the closest I ever get to chocolate these days.

Also, I found that switching from shower gel to decent bar soap made a big difference to the dryness of my skin. I buy mine from The Sea Shed, great big bars which smell lovely and last for ages 🙂

Aveeno body oil.
No7 dry body oil
Sanctuary body oil
I spray them on my hand first, then apply, otherwise I end up skating round the bathroom.

Neutrogena hydro boost in blue pump bottle.

I also use all manner of expensive unguents, but this is the best and ridiculously cheap.

Oh I’d forgotten about that one, it’s really good!
Biotherm is my favourite though. Feels so gorgeous and smells sublime.

OuiLaLa · 15/06/2024 22:22

I used bio oil before bed once a week, it’s so moisturising. My flakey leg skin is totally gone.

Cerave lotion with the pump top
Very sensitive skin

princessbear80 · 18/06/2024 19:17

I really like the Dove Pro Age one in the bottle not the pot. It’s the only one I actually want to use. All others end up at the back of the cupboard forgotten about.

Matrons · 18/06/2024 19:33

I use bio oil and can recommend. Not too oily, dries fast and smells good

OhTediosity · 18/06/2024 19:56

I have never found anything that compares to Palmer’s Cocoa Butter.

Agreed. I used Kiehl's Crème de Corps for years but Palmers is now the only thing I'll consider except Bio Oil for dry legs in the winter.

Dream Cream from Lush is really good for dry skin.
You can get one with lavender in for night time.
Body shop also do really light body lotions which get absorbed really quickly.

Whodrankmytea · 19/06/2024 07:12

I nearly always use Body Shop Shea Body Butter - a big tub lasts for quite a while. I've also used Palmers in the past and would agree it's good.

Pontipinecity · 19/06/2024 07:24

Nivea Q10 for old skin. I think it might even be for 60+ which I’m not but it’s very effective. I use it all over every morning after a bath or shower. It’s nearly always on offer too.

Another Weleda fan here. I like this one

Palmers Cocoa butter lotion - have been using for about 20 years and nothing else compares imo.

Agreed.

I love the body yogurt from the body shop. Sinks straight in and you don’t have to wait to get dressed as there’s no stickiness.
