I want a really nice yet quirky crossbody bag

I need a crossbody bag - not too stiff.
I want something with personality but luxury. My style inspos are Liam Gallagher/ Claudia Winkleman with an edge of Goth.
I loved the Vampires Wife style huge leather bags with ruffles in a different colour. I have pillows that are velvet leopard print with neon piping round. (just trying to get you to see my aesthetic)
As I get older, I want to embrace this kind of OTT goth maximalism but it does veer close to novelty and too much quirk if you are not careful (if you know what I mean)
I want cool rich goth vibes (like Daphne Guiness)

Where can I look? Not TKMaxx as it's needle in a haystack. I have a battered old fjallraven currently that I had embroidered/ has patches and badges on but I want a touch more luxury. Can anyone help/ point me in the right direction?

Etsy?

You might find some customs on there that fit perfectly.

When I were younger... Many many many years ago.. there were "Goth Shops" about the place, not seen one for ages though.
They sold New Rock Boots, Studded wrost.cuffs and things like that. Do they exist now? 🤔
Might be worth a Google?

Damson Madder

That was my first thought but no cross body bags currently. They do have a nice leopard print with ruffles but it’s not a cross body.

Zadig & Voltaire is what you're looking for: zadig-et-voltaire.com/eu/uk/p/LWBA02472001/clutch-women-rock-suede-clutch-black-lwba02472

Yeah goth shops is a good shout but a bit too 'novelty' as I don't want skulls, studs or stars.
Etsy could be ok , maybe for vintage tapestry bags etc

Sadly they went bust but I got some lovely little crossbody bags from Hill and Friends.

You might find one on eBay/Vinted or Vestiaire etc

ManilowBarry · 12/06/2024 13:28

Anya Hindmarch also sells some lovely crossbody bags.

I love the leopard ruffle bag on here.
I'd also be up for tapestry/botanical velvet with jewelled bugs on that sort of thing

I know these and they are a bit too 'normal'

I recently bought a cross body bucket bag from Maria Maleta. Maybe not as out there as you're looking for, but the quality is excellent and you can customise (they have some interesting leathers): https://www.mariamaleta.com/collections/all-crossbody-bags

I just.googled goth crossbody and found..

https://www.attitudeclothing.co.uk/restyle-night-creature-shoulder-bag-p34549/s107523?

I'm not suggesting it as such OP, I don't think it's what.younwant , but I Lurve it..

Mid 90s me would have rocked it till it fell to bits.

Me too! My younger self would have it!
Think: I'm a rich vampire who loves britpop and hangs out in soho with claudia winkleman. At weekends , I'm at my cotswold cottage in dark botanical silk pjs drinking coffee out of a hand thrown large mug and I walk with sunglasses and a large wooden cocoon coat on to go and buy an almond croissant from the bakery.
I've toyed with the idea of a battered leather satchel but it feels like harry Potter

Woolen cocoon coat obviously
I did want the oversized velvet bag from The Vampires Wife for a long time

Umm…the one I was thinking about comes in black and neon red (the leopard one has been out of stock for a while) and can be worn cross body.

It’s not obvious in the photo, but there are ties on the bag to adjust the ruffleyness of the strap and hence adjust the length of the strap to some degree.

I adjusted mine like that and it works well.

I want a really nice yet quirky crossbody bag

I've also had the idea of vintage evening bags but use them as a daytime crossbody

TuesdayWhistler · 12/06/2024 13:42

I think vintage is the way to go.

If classic vampires did exist, I think they'd still use things they owned when turned.. so they'd have bags from 1890.. and knickers 1891.. 🤣

Also, I want an actual wooden cocoon coat..
Just drill some holes in for eyes, look like a walking coffin..🤣

some proper quirk here

Yeah these are not me at all. I don't want the novelty factor although some are very cute!

Argh I can’t help as am on a perennial quest for the same thing. I feel like Wolf & Badger might be the place but can never find quite what I want (or if I can I can’t afford it).

Have you ever got close?
I also like the idea of vintage with things added on like trinkets and brooches but then you get dangerously close to Jack Sparrow

Irregular choice are a bit too 'zany' for me
