I want a really nice yet quirky crossbody bag

I need a crossbody bag - not too stiff.
I want something with personality but luxury. My style inspos are Liam Gallagher/ Claudia Winkleman with an edge of Goth.
I loved the Vampires Wife style huge leather bags with ruffles in a different colour. I have pillows that are velvet leopard print with neon piping round. (just trying to get you to see my aesthetic)
As I get older, I want to embrace this kind of OTT goth maximalism but it does veer close to novelty and too much quirk if you are not careful (if you know what I mean)
I want cool rich goth vibes (like Daphne Guiness)

Where can I look? Not TKMaxx as it's needle in a haystack. I have a battered old fjallraven currently that I had embroidered/ has patches and badges on but I want a touch more luxury. Can anyone help/ point me in the right direction?

I've just bought this. It was in my £10.50! As an old goth I love the edging.

I really think this bag matches your requirements

I love this one, not too quirky but just a bit of difference

What about a Vivienne Westwood bag? Maybe a bit punk rather than goth but definitely quirky.

Thanks to those saying satchels. I have considered these but I find them impractical as they are stiff, nowhere to quickly stuff keys etc. I like the Wanderers Marley , in velvet or leopard velvet that would be a contender. I like the Dakota but I wouldn't enjoy the fringing

flipping heck! this lot have got their work cut out

Yup that's why I posted on style and beauty and didn't just browse the high street.
We are great and finding things and giving each other lovely links to check out

I rather like this

Oooh, that is lovely!

crochetmonkey74 · 13/06/2024 09:40

I really like the idea of vivienne Westwood
Been thinking about the shape and I think the Loewe puzzle bag is the type of slouchy soft shape I want. Big rectangle , top handle and crossbody strap. Broad base. A dark velvet floral version of that or beaded or embroidersd

Have you looked at Alexander McQueen? They have some really nice stuff and not run of the mill

Doesn't meet your requirements but someone else on this thread may want this Mary Poppins meets Goth inspired bag so I just post it here for interest and hope someone else buys it so I don't

But for OP what about something by Lynn Tallerico like her Nancy bag?

I have the Azzura - it is a really lovely colour. I find I can ram enough in there for me: some lipstick, balm, more balm and gloss, a kindle, my huge phone, my sunglasses, keys, car keys, hand cream, airpods, pen, folded bag for shopping, tissues etc.

It isn't "London safe" for me though - I'm not over confident with the drawstring top in very busy places. It does close nice and tight and there is also a magnetic catch. Lovely leather, came with a free matching purse (you can pick the style although many were out of stock). I'm happy with it and it's now my holiday and short trip bag.

Wait for a sale when you get a really decent amount off.

I will and thank you, I'd love it for holiday, I'm looking for a get-away right now as it happens, 😊

This brand (Scamp & Dude) is likely not for you but this bag works for me and my past goth self. 😁

They do a black fringe version as well. Not as slouchy as you want but more roomy than you might think.

OH I LOVE THAT

So capacious too. Very handy

I did a whole bag thread ages ago and that was when I discovered the Wanderers Travel co thanks to some very helpful posters. I really want this one from there too but I'd want it in the lighter green of some of their other bags and that isn't an option. The tan is lovely though... I like the very many options for carrying it: handbag style, shoulder bag, cross body.

My bag thread was supposed to find me THE bag. Instead, since then I have bought the Marley, the Dakota, a pink vegan leather laptop bag and a gunmetal silver leather slouchy shoulder bag for my holiday...

Tis ridiculous really. God knows what I'd be like if I had unlimited funds.
