Knickers for a size 16 with an apron belly what shape to go for

JustCantBeBothered · 03/06/2024 19:11

Largely due to 3 babies and 3 c sections and a love for cake on mat leave 😦 what shape are best please? I find I either have midi ones that go and tuck themselves in my belly for the day or knickers I wore after surgery that tuck themselves under my boobs!

Im a lot smaller but have an apron and tbh I prefer full briefs as I hate then the apron can pop out under with high legged briefs

I did get some really nice ones from primark about 4/5 years ago which are now coming to the end of their lives and am now wearing some I got from Matalan . Cover my bum, the apron is tucked in and the waist doesnt reach my boobs

MeAndMounjaro · 03/06/2024 22:01

I swear by these for pulling my apron up and in but without causing a muffin top which is some feat given my pear shape carries weight around hips and belly. I'm talking about these working this way at size 18 too, they gave me the confidence to be able to wear high waisted trousers and jeans.

I was sceptical, but on the recommendation on another thread here, bought some wirarpa high waist cotton underwear on Amazon.

They are so comfortable, wash well and are just brilliant. I ordered more only last week. Love them.

Investinmyself · 03/06/2024 22:25

I swear by Sloggi maxi briefs, have a horrible apron overhang.

thedendrochronologist · 03/06/2024 22:34

If you buy full briefs you will not regret it.

Especially the modal non VPL ones from M&S

I could not care less about VPL
but they are so comfy Grin

It's a slippery slope one day it's a mini brief, then it's a short -just for the gym- then it's a short every day then a lacy midi and before you know it you own 15 identical pairs of non lacy full briefs.

M&S Flexifit Shorts are the ONLY pants I buy these days (size 16 and ample of tum)!

Came to say exactly these too! Perfect shape and really soft!

Ginkypig · 03/06/2024 22:44

Iv tried loads over the years but now after so many disappointed and uncomfortable days I go for m&s full briefs they cover my bum wide enough the they cover the cheeks and are high enough on the belly that they don’t roll down. But also on the hips so my sides don’t eat them either

highlegs I find I’m pulling them out of my bum all day
Thong see above
midi they tend to roll down under the belly and annoy me all day

they are not the sexiest obviously but I just want to be comfortable

i should also say I only wear 100% cotton knickers

iv not tried sloggi due to price but my mother and grandmother swear by them!

I do have a few nicer pairs that I wear less frequently under the few times a year I wear a dress for a meal out of something but my everyday is above

PinkTonic · 03/06/2024 23:02

Another vote for the M&S flexifit high rise shorts, but it’s annoying I can only buy nude in a mixed pack with white. I don’t want white, I want black and nude!

ttcat37 · 03/06/2024 23:07

I’m still wearing my 3 sizes up Primark cotton massive pants from when I was pregnant. They’re so big I often pull what I think is a t shirt out the clean basket and it’s a pair of pants. But my bum and tum are so comfy.

Abitorangelooking · 03/06/2024 23:11

Wirapa from Amazon. I bought them after seeing on here and they are really comfy/ flattering

Kentishtownie · 03/06/2024 23:13

I like M&S midi but as pp said they have a new name and are now called high rise shorts - so you might find midi with other brands are good.

I've heard good things about Sainsburys cotton pants. I find M&S cotton midis get holey pretty quick.

Yep. I go for these ones too. Very comfortable and they wash well.

YorkNew · 03/06/2024 19:35

I use to wear M&S high leg or midi in a pack of 5 in a size bigger when I had an apron.
I think the midis may have a new name now.

Yes, the midis are now just called shorts. Found this out when I went to buy my trusty midis and thought they'd been discontinued.

I wear Modibody all month with light protection for the main part, and thicker for periods. It's no different to wearing a party liner. Stocked up on high rise size 16s just last week. They are £17 per pair but worth it.

I like the sound of party liners. Special occasion sparkly panty liners 😂

comeondover · 04/06/2024 00:45

There'd be a market for some kind of apron bra, I think.

SnowFrogJelly · 04/06/2024 01:20

M&S full briefs

Exactly that. I don't want suck em in pants, or pants just to go over it. I want pants that are going to actually lift it up. I'm starting to get irritated around my c-section scar.

ouch44 · 04/06/2024 07:23

These are great. Broody - looks like they have 50% off too. M&S flexifit go up my bum. These are bamboo. Keep your bum warm in winter and cool in summer! Last really well too.

Oops Only 50% off Olive. But they do discount from time to time

YourFluentCrab · 03/06/2024 19:46

I get the asda full briefs, own brand pack. They sit on my waist.

Came on to say this, all my knickers are M&S or Asda. I have sloggies but find because they are tight fitting they make me sweaty under my apron (TMI, sorry!) so rarely wear them.

ReallyShouldBeDoingSomethingElse · 04/06/2024 08:09

I like these full briefs from JL. They're so comfortable, stay in place, and the lace at the top makes them feel a bit less frumpy without having to tolerate lace on more sensitive skin elsewhere!

nowtygaffer · 04/06/2024 08:10

I wore sloggis for years but they started to feel uncomfortable. I now wear tesco cotton high legs in a 5 pack.

treacledan71 · 04/06/2024 08:14

SLIMMA pants are good. Not as tight as Bridget Jones pants so good for every day. Seem to never come down either when wearing tights. I order the big granny ones and the ones not as high.

CerealPonderer · 04/06/2024 08:14

I buy packs of full briefs in black - I've had them from Asda, Matalan and Primark and they all seem much the same. They're obviously not sexy pants but I find them pretty inoffensive.

The mistake I'll never make again is buying a full brief in any colour other than black. I picked up a pack once in really pretty pastel colours and thought I'd try them for a change. I've discovered that a full brief in white or lemon or pale pink looks very much like granny pants and reminds me of my nans underwear 😂
