I need an absolute stunner of a dress

Wedding guest, but it’s my brother in law and they are VERY in to what everyone is wearing. Summer wedding.

I am open to ANY style as long as it’s under £120.

I’m 5ft 3, size 12, 40ish 😉 The reason I ask is that my style is a little out there and quirky and I’ll wear pretty much anything (think velvet skirts, band T-shirts, very bright neons, body cons or midis, leopard print, fake fur) and obviously the pictures will be going on someone’s wall for decades, so I need something that is classic but also different and not overpowering.

help me please, this board has never let me down before!

That’s a lovely dress.

I like the dress above! Do you have anything else in mind, or any absolute no-nos?

I don’t think so. No olive green as it’s the bridesmaids colours but that’s about it. 🙂

That’s a lovely dress.

It is, isnt it. But something about the arm sleeve is making me hesitate. Reiss do some cape sleeve dresses so similar but longer sleeve - and I really like them, but they aren’t in bold colours.

That KM dress smashes the 1st one out of the park!

The original dress and the KM one are both stunning... but a little bright. You're definitely going to stand out in the photos if you wear either of them. Would the bride and groom mind that, do you think?

StickyProblem · 16/05/2024 22:58

Reiss on Brand Alley! Only up to size 10 in stock but they have the purple one too

Sorry, link didn't share. Search Brand Alley (you need to have an account) for Reiss dresses

CassTheFox · 16/05/2024 23:11

Lavish Alice have some quirky cool wedding guest dresses. Good luck!

Yeah they know what to expect really, and compared to some family members, those dresses would look pared down. It’s only in the main family shot it will matter and I’m sure I’ll get stuck on the end anyway 😂

Have a look on wolf and badger, they have some fun unusual things www.wolfandbadger.com/uk/ huge range of prices too

TheChosenTwo · 16/05/2024 23:31

I don’t really like the KM one, looks like one of those weird peplum bottom bits hacked off and stuck on top! I’m also not a fan of one sleeves or one shouldered anything.
However don’t over think it, mostly people will just have one wedding photo of B&G on display somewhere, even those have died out in my circles, mostly people I know have digital images and that’s about it (or a magnets of their favourite few on the fridge!), I’ve been to 4 weddings over the last 3 years and none of them including the parents of the couple have photos of the guests up!! So wear what you feel comfortable and happy in, I love the bright pink, I do like the first one but it’s quite casual and beachy. It might be quite a casual wedding though!

My DD has this dress - she wore it at a wedding too - and it's gorgeous, much nicer than the photo. It's not as pink IRL, more red but stunning.

SisterAgatha · 17/05/2024 08:14

Haha they will definitely have pictures on the wall for the next few decades, as well as staged group shots, canvases made, calendars made, their weddings are enormous events. Although I usually get stuck on the end or half cropped out, even when I’m not wearing something outrageous, so maybe I am overthinking it!

Will look on wolf and badger! Totally forgot about that!

If you're petite you might be better not going for something full-length/billowy as all that fabric will swamp you.
