Daily SPF that won't make my eyes sting!

If you have sensitive eyes, what SPF do you use on your face? I'm struggling to find one that doesn't make my eyes sting and water - even when I avoid the immediate eye area

Tried and failed:

La Roche Posay Anthelios fluid
Gruum (this was the worst! Eyes streaming even when not sweaty/didn't put it anywhere near my eyes)
Erborian CC cream with SPF (gutted because the finish is gorgeous 😭)
Upcircle - I use all their skincare and thought as natural this would be fine but wasn't (and didn't love the texture)

I vaguely recall using Green People a couple of summers ago and that being better than most - but it's pricey so it would be nice to find an alternative!

Place marking as I have the same problem!

Runningbird43 · 09/05/2024 20:45

I don’t. Couldn’t find one. I either wear a hat in strong sun, or use an spf stick. I also avoid the sun as much as possible. I even have a parasol for holidays 😂

Oh no is this just going to become a gathering of weepy eyes anonymous 😂

Ultra Violette Supreme Screen has never made my eyes sting (but price maybe not ideal)

changewashing · 09/05/2024 20:53

Sheer screen by supergoop. Its 100% mineral so doesn't irritate eyes

MissConductUS · 09/05/2024 20:54

Blue Lizard. The lotion is unscented and absorbs easily into the skin. I've never had any irritation from it. I get it on Amazon.

AntiHop · 09/05/2024 20:55

I have this issue and I'm successful using nivea anti wrinkle power.

ColbyJuarez · 09/05/2024 20:55

Have you tried mineral sunscreens? They tend to be gentler on sensitive skin and eyes compared to chemical sunscreens. Brands like EltaMD and Cotz offer mineral sunscreens specifically formulated for sensitive skin.

Els1e · 09/05/2024 20:55

Following as have the same problem. Best for me is a Nivea children’s sensitive but it is a bit on the greasy side so would love something better.

gimmegimmegimmeagin · 09/05/2024 20:58

Nivea shine control. Matte finish so is good under makeup too and didn't sting my eyes. Reasonable price too.

I’ve always used various daily moisturisers with an SPF but over the last couple of years I seem to have developed a reaction to them. Currently using La Roche Posay Toleriane SPF30 which seems to be okay, as long as I wash my hands thoroughly after applying it/don’t rub my eyes, but it is quite expensive.

L'Oréal Revitalift Anti-UV fluid. The only one I've found (and I've tried loads) that doesn't sting my eyes.

BrieRightBack · 09/05/2024 20:59

Yeah I second the comments about mineral vs chemical. All chemical ones sting. Mineral has added bonus of working instantly.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 09/05/2024 21:00

I'm using the Green People one at the moment and it doesn't sting.

Suma2021 · 09/05/2024 21:03

I just use Ultrasun Extreme Spf50. It does make my face white-ish but I can't stand anything irritating my eyes and this is the only one I have found that doesn't. I buy the big 400ml one and use it for face and body.

TheHennaHairedHarridan · 09/05/2024 21:19

I use Simple and it doesn't make my eyes sting unlike other brands

NoLostCause · 09/05/2024 21:26

Seconding L'Oréal Revitalift Anti-UV fluid.

Nikkynakkynoo · 09/05/2024 21:32

Thanks everyone- lots of great suggestions to check out!

Those saying mineral - the upcircle one I tried was mineral based and it stung, though it was also quite heavily (with essential oils/natural ingredients?) scented so could have been that irritating Also do you find they rub in ok? Have used a mineral body one previously and always had a bit of a white sheen (and I'm pretty pale!)

Currently using Eucerin spf50 anti pigment, doesn't seem to irritate my eyes. Also used Biore Watery Essence, that's good too and no irritation.

Nivea and Garnier, spf50 didn't irritate either.

PrincessOfPreschool · 09/05/2024 21:42

I always get stingy eyes. The Clinique mineral is brilliant, though pricey. Does last well though. It goes on so well and no cast, very thin and absorbs. I also used Avene mineral with no problems but it's a bit whitey. They have a tinted version which is better but it's quite thick compared to Clinique, a lot cheaper though.

beewales · 09/05/2024 21:53

I struggle with this and it's a nightmare! Have been using Altruist face fluid for a week or so and, so far, no problems at all! It's quite reasonably priced as well.

spiderplant56 · 09/05/2024 21:57

I use heliocare 360 and have no problems with stingy eyes. A little goes a long way too so a tube last quite a while .
