For someone who loves Dr Martens

https://www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/7-inch-kiev-smooth-leather-crossbody-bag-black/p/AB098001?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwouexBhAuEiwAtW_Zx7JDq8m4usrPRST_fRgKTHEhnw2m-MEV9j1DpfHVd9hEyS1GY_deXRoCxb0QAvD_BwE

Also any special codes or tips for discount or better price? Thanks!

I would like that, but it's a lot to spend as a surprise gift. Can you ask them first or give them vouchers?

RichardsGear · 07/05/2024 16:30

It looks like it's got a face, like a Henry Hoover.

loropianalover · 07/05/2024 16:30

It’s hard to answer when we don’t know the recipient.

Do they love the brand in general or just the boots? Do they use this style of bag, have they mentioned this bag in particular?

If you’re confident they’d like it that means a lot more than any stranger on here saying it’s a good gift.

Comefromaway · 07/05/2024 16:31

Yes, I like that

Very good point! It's for a leaving gift for someone so maybe a bit much in case they don't like it. Vouchers a good idea.

Exactly the same as a Cambridge satchel bag which you can get on vinted often BNWT.

I like it. My teen daughter would be horrified.

BlancheSaysYes · 07/05/2024 16:32

It's a lot of money for a tiny bag, but my DD loves her docs and she'd be chuffed to bits if I bought her that bag.

It is 🙈 that's why we were looking for discounts etc.

Might go back to the drawing board.

I think it's great, I'd love it, but I think you've got to be so careful with gifts like this. Unless you categorically know the recipient will love it, you risk it just ending up as expensive clutter. I wouldn't buy someone a bag for a leaving gift.

BigBadBarri · 07/05/2024 20:46

If it’s a leaving gift, I’d go with vouchers like John Lewis. Much more future proofed!

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 07/05/2024 20:47

It looks quite small and inpractical

Rocknrollstar · 07/05/2024 20:55

I would never buy a handbag or a purse for anyone. Vouchers are a much better bet.

GreatGateauxsby · 07/05/2024 22:27

I think this is a GREAT leaving gift.

I'd get a gift receipt juuuustin case but this is lovely and thoughtful.

I also was prepared to hate it because i dont love DMs but i think its a really nice bag!!

TheGoodEnoughWife · 07/05/2024 22:30

I have that bag and don't use it. The strap is annoying. It hasn't really straightened out from being wrapped up when I purchased it and the bag doesn't hold enough things that are heavy enough to weigh it down iyswim?

Maybe with use it would sort its self out but I gave up and now it sits on the side unused!

So no, vouchers instead lol

BananaLambo · 08/05/2024 00:21

If she loves Dr. Martens I’d get her that with a gift receipt. It looks like a properly good thoughtful present, and perhaps one she would like to have treated herself to but couldn’t justify it. If she doesn’t like it she can put the gift receipt towards a new pair of docs. Docs don’t really do much in terms of offers apart from their seasonal range, but you might be able to get 10% if you know someone with a unidays account.

BananaLambo · 08/05/2024 00:24

Actually just checked - 10% off if you sign up, and if you look at the photos in the feedback it’s bigger than it looks on the model.

TheChosenTwo · 08/05/2024 00:29

I like it (and I don’t like Docs) but I don’t like the name on it.
It’s a sweet bag, looks little but would hold all the bits I might need for a day out, phone and keys! It has a nice shape and it’s quite inoffensive.
Vouchers are fine too.

Happyasapiginmuck1 · 08/05/2024 00:30

I didn't even know that Doc Martins did bags! They have some lovely ones!

YeahComeOnThen · 08/05/2024 00:38

Unless you know they'd love it, I wouldn't spend all of a leaving fund on it.

I think an actual gift rather than vouchers is better for a leaving gift. But not a carriage click! 🤣🤣

YeahComeOnThen · 08/05/2024 00:38

Clock

Spinningroundahelix · 08/05/2024 01:21

I'd hate it and it would be straight off to the Salvation Army or consignment boutique after I'd finished trying to look appreciative. The obvious signature on it would put me off apart from the fact that I hate tiny bags. Now your recipient might love it but its a big risk. I think gifts which are "decorative" items or something that you'd wear are very difficult to get right. Unless they have unequivocally said that they adore something I'd stick with vouchers or at least something with an exchange card. A huge mistake is buying something you'd like to get unless you have near identical tastes.

MissedItByThisMuch · 08/05/2024 01:28

I quite like it - certainly bags are personal and tricky to get right, but honestly taking a risk on this bag would be a much much MUCH better leaving gift than awful, thoughtless, default, can’t-be-arsed-making-any-effort John Lewis vouchers.
