I just use an IKEA food bag in the largest size.

TheWayBackHome · 07/05/2024 20:10

I have a hanging washbag that is very useful if I'm away somewhere with not much surface space

SiobahnRoy · 07/05/2024 20:19

I have a flat lay, it’s great

BigSkies2022 · 07/05/2024 20:28

Mine's pretty basic: zip top, pockets/compartments inside, zip pocket on the side, wipe clean.

What I am proud of is always keeping it packed with stuff I will need: shampoo, conditioner in travel bottles; mini bottle of Moroccan Oil/Olaplex; a razor; mini toothpaste; toothbrush; interdental brushes; Nivea Soft (works for body and face); tube of rinse-off cleanser; Roche-Posay SPF;HRT meds; migraine meds; nail cutters; tweezers, contact lenses; anti-histamine; Compeed. I refill and check it all back in again when I return home, put it away in the bathroom cupboard and it's one less job to think about when I'm packing for the next trip. It has taken me decades to achieve this basic bit of organisation.

I have a hanging one, I think I got it from Amazon. I like things to be organised and accessible, I don't like rummaging 😂 I think Mia Tui do a hanging one, too, I might upgrade. I wouldn't want a flat lay, where the hell would I put that in a hotel bathroom??

I also keep mine stocked up and ready to go 😁 I go away for weekends a lot, and it's one less thing to think about

qwertyqwertyqwertyqwerty · 08/05/2024 06:14

It might help to explain what you want to fit in it, whether it is for everyday or for holidays, and how often you will use it.

Jewelanemone · 08/05/2024 06:18

I have one which is always fully stocked as we go away at weekends frequently. Mine has a separate zipped compartment in the base which is good for storing painkillers, etc, so they aren't in with the everyday toiletries.

Hard to find this style though. I struggle every time I want to renew it.

thedendrochronologist · 08/05/2024 06:34

Do you mean for toiletries or make up? Flat lay is for make up and I reallh want one!

My actually wash bag is amazing! It's this Orla Kiely one I got from TK maxx. It was a bargain. it's vast and has pockets so I don't need more than one bag, is really durable oilcloth and hangs up and has a solid zip.

I have 2 , can’t seem to manage with less. I have an ancient Body Shop one that opens out flat and has 4 mesh zipped compartments in 2/3 sizes attached by Velcro so you can remove each individually and even wash them and more recently a Liberty bag that came with a GWP, that’s very accommodating for shampoo etc. I put make up in one of the larger mesh bags, another holds hair accessories, the third has tools, and the last one tablets. I’m trying to compress everything into one bag this year though, not sure I’ll succeed. I bought one of those flat lay things and hate it.

CMOTDibbler · 08/05/2024 08:39

I have the Mia Tui hanging bag. After many years of travelling for work, I found hanging bags are the only way to go as everything has a home, and it stays that way even with hotel bathrooms with tiny amounts of flat surface

LaWench · 08/05/2024 08:40

I have a big one and it is great. Loads of compartments, hangs up. I ended up getting one each for the DDs too.

I also like the Stackers one from John Lewis - it has a removable part which you can use to go through security as it is clear.

friskybivalves · 08/05/2024 09:06

This site (sorry on phone so cannot do fancy links) is well worth prowling through. Lots of variety, lots of choice, good offers. I have their Kate hanging bag. Proper Tardis but not so huge that jt takes up half your suitcase or drawer when you get home.

TheChosenTwo · 08/05/2024 09:09

A wash bag? I only use one for travelling and it’s just a regular wash bag, don’t know what function it needs to be recommendable but it holds shower gel, toothpaste and shampoo if flying long haul and it can go in the hold. If short haul we just buy what we need at the airport and it goes in the shop carrier bag into our hand luggage!

TheBirdintheCave · 08/05/2024 09:13

We have this for travel:

And it is amazing. The fact that it's flat means it fits so much better in our suitcase.

backinthebox · 08/05/2024 09:24

Some lovely wash bags out there if you like a fancy expensive one for once a year! I travel weekly, and have a small clear airport-security-acceptable clear plastic zipped bag for liquids, and the same for none-liquids. Then when I dump my wash bags out on the bathroom counter in my hotel for one night I can see exactly what I’ve got in there and where it is. Also means when my mozzie spray leaks (which is often 🙄) and I have to throw it out I’m not throwing out something expensive. Big ones with lots of pockets are for people who don’t travel light and don’t travel often.
