A green dress

OP posts:

A grey and lilac floral dress and a grey blazer. Or a bright floral Lolly’s Laundry skirt with a cream top and cardigan. I’d really want to wear trainers but might resign myself to brown sandals.

BreadAndWineFeelingFine · 22/04/2024 15:41

I don't think I have anything at all that's suitable - I'm one or maybe even two sizes bigger than my ideal weight (yay midlife/perimenopause!) and most of my favourite things are too small now. I might be able to wear my dark blue silk tunic top but I'd need some new trousers.

RobinBobbin · 22/04/2024 16:12

I have a few suitable dresses or a smart jumpsuit. Heeled suede ankle or full length boots in this weather. Or sandals.

Meadowfinch · 22/04/2024 16:15

This time of year, I have a brocade coat, some wide leg silk trousers and a little silk top. Low square heels that can be worn in a marquee.

Echobelly · 22/04/2024 16:16

Depends on wedding and season but I have:

  • Black and gold jumpsuit
  • Printed dress with flared 3/4 length sleeves

That would be probably be my first options, dress can be worn with tights or without and either could work with wedge sandals or boots depending.

WhatWouldJeevesDo · 22/04/2024 16:18

If nobody else who would be there had been to my wedding I could wear my wedding dress.

SirenSays · 22/04/2024 16:21

A black dress, probably a maxi

Comefromaway · 22/04/2024 16:22

I've only just bought a beautiful dress that I intend to wear later in the year to my cousin's wedding.

CosmosQueen · 22/04/2024 16:23

Badly!
I don’t possess anything remotely like a wedding outfit 😊unless I wear jeans and a Breton top!

Lemonademoney · 22/04/2024 16:23

I’ve got a couple of smart dresses or I’d go for an a-line satin skirt with heels, black cami and black tuxedo jkt if it was a night do

HeddaGarbled · 22/04/2024 16:24

Smart navy trousers and a navy and white spotty blouse.

caringcarer · 22/04/2024 16:28

A long sleeved floral dress and matching jacket.

StrangeNew · 22/04/2024 16:29

Gosh, @Meadowfinch - you put me to shame!

I am sadly realising that a wardrobe of long ivory coloured sweater dresses and several tweed skirts does not render me wedding ready. I have everything I need to throw on for conferences, gallery openings, dinner anywhere, concerts, flights, Tube … But absolutely nothing I would happily be photographed in whilst throwing confetti or dancing at 2 in the morning …

🤔

WoodBurningStov · 22/04/2024 16:32

A green floaty maxi dr was and wedges

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 22/04/2024 16:53

I have a couple of linen dresses which would look OK for a summer wedding, I think. Would have to wear with a cardigan on top and either flat sandals, Mary Janes or moccasins. And a bucket sun hat or baseball cap !!

My only formal winter dress is a dark grey one I bought for an interview and have now put aside as my funeral dress! It might actually look OK if worn with a bright jacket - but I'd have to buy that .

AndBeyond · 22/04/2024 16:59

I have a few dresses which would do fine. Probably with flat, gold sandals or nude ballet flats. No jacket though, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for nice weather at this hypothetical wedding

imnotthatkindofmum · 22/04/2024 17:04

Naked....nothing fits lol

Seriously I have a red shirt dress that I could dress up with black heels and a nice bag and wear it with a plain jacket. Jacket is beige though so not sure that would work. Be ok if it's summer -no jacket!

Mrsredlipstick · 22/04/2024 17:04

I have two silk duster coats (I go to a lot of formal events). I have silk dresses and trousers as I work abroad. I would probably buy a hat though because I love them.

henlake7 · 22/04/2024 17:05

well, I def dont have anything summer wedding worthy!
But the best I could do is a cream and black print maxi shirt dress with boots.

now if it had been 'an outfit for walking the dogs' then Im spoiled for choice!!

AnitaLoos · 22/04/2024 17:14

Long sleeved, high neck abstract green and lemon and coral floral print on black crepe midi dress with tailored black jacket and neutral ankle strap sandals OR
plain navy crepe Wyse long midi with gold sandals and navy suede clutch

IncessantNameChanger · 22/04/2024 17:23

I have a few floor lenght teired dresses and a white Cardigan or my navy Boden cardi with crystal buttons. No shoes that currently fit ( weird all over odema for a few years now) so it would be my converse. Or I would have to dig out my primark ballet flats I guess

DeeCeeCherry · 22/04/2024 17:26

Floral midi fit & flare swing dress with full shaped petticoat underneath, victorian style ankle boots, and a hat or fascinator with handbag to match. I only really wear vintage and can easily put together outfits for any occasion

PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance · 22/04/2024 17:27

I have a couple of beautiful floral stylish dresses.. I'd wear with a little jacket or bolero.. tiny wedge sandals and a clutch bag.

Crikeyalmighty · 22/04/2024 17:29

A rust coloured dress from Anthropologie with a kind of net trim and a brown jacjet with a furry collar

TheFormidableMrsC · 22/04/2024 17:57

Matt black satin bias cut skirt with matching shell top. Cream Mint Velvet blazer. Black and cream animal print pointy heels.
