A green dress

I have a dress that I wore to the last wedding but its 2 sizes too big so I'd have to wear a big belt to cinch it in. I need to throw it out really.

Marmite27 · 22/04/2024 18:02

I did this today for a wedding next week to see if I needed to buy anything!

I decided on a navy chiffon v-neck, knee length dress with floaty capped sleeves, which has a medium pink floral pattern on. With a Navy blazer, fascinater (I don’t care if they’re out of fashion!) black Mary Jane’s and a navy blue clutch.

TheMuskratOfDestiny · 22/04/2024 18:05

It would have to be an extremely casual wedding....

Kalevala · 22/04/2024 18:07

Dark denim trousers, black desert boots, checked shirt and merino jumper.

Meadowfinch · 22/04/2024 18:09

@StrangeNew Don't be too impressed. I've had the outfit since 2005. 😁 At least it still fits. And it's warm.

MuchTooTired · 22/04/2024 18:09

I’d wear a fit and flare dress (50’s style in teal) with my below ankle boots in the same colour, ditto handbag. Or ditch the bag, the dress has pockets!

Kalevala · 22/04/2024 18:11

I could borrow my DS's suit, but it would be big. Even the shirts would be big as they are 15" collars.

This, A recent buy and I love it.

rockingbird · 22/04/2024 18:17

I have a lovely maxi dress 👗 wore once in black from Whistles, classy looking. I'd probably wear that with one of the many pink blazer jackets I seem to have accumulated 🥴 in fact I must have at least 5 dresses I've never worn.. oh heck I try not to think too much about the purchases I pop in the wardrobe never to be worn!!

Crikeyalmighty · 22/04/2024 18:24

@Curlyblondefemale I've got a silk Fred dress that I adore too

CharlotteStreetW1 · 22/04/2024 18:29

I have three wedding outfits from the last couple of years, complete with hats, shoes and bags. I'm good to go.

(I also have a few dresses from previous weddings which aren't really my style now but would do at a push.)

SpringOfContentment · 22/04/2024 18:33

I'd freeze!
A summer dress last worn in 35C heat (in December) but no suitable warm layer or shoes.

WonderingWanda · 22/04/2024 18:55

I've got a long black and white floral off the shoulder dress that would do, probably with gold wedge sandals.

NeedWineNow · 22/04/2024 18:58

I've got several dresses that are suitable for weddings which cover all weather eventualities, complete with shoes and bags and coverups or jackets so I'd be good to go.

Wouldn't stop me thinking that I need something else though....

Enko · 22/04/2024 18:58

For a summer wedding I'd be ok. I have a pretty green dress with floral pattern that would work.

A couple of nice red dresses for winter they are work dresses but could be dressed up. Stuffed for the other 2 seasons.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 22/04/2024 19:00

Choice of 4 dresses from Eponine (2 of which I wear as day dresses and 2 as going out to good restaurants dresses but they are wedding suitable); 2 mad dresses from Klements; 1 dress from Cabbages and Roses ( which like the Eponine dresses I wear as a day dress but it's also wedding worthy); this dress in navy silk and a similar long sleeved dress in green silk jacquard with navy embroidery from the same brand ; and a Vivienne Westwood figure of eight dress.

I have lots of smart clothes but most are black so I’d be a bit stuck. I’ve a navy dress and a few bright jackets/blazers. If the red silk dress suit still fits, it’s timeless

TheFormidableMrsC · 22/04/2024 19:06

Kalevala · 22/04/2024 18:07

Dark denim trousers, black desert boots, checked shirt and merino jumper.

For a wedding?

PandaG · 22/04/2024 19:08

Either of the second hand purple print dress and matching jacket combos I wore to DC graduations over the last 2 years. Wore 1 to a wedding already, will be wearing them to the two weddings already invited to this summer. Could perhaps do with new shoes.

Mama_bear · 22/04/2024 19:10

Oooh good question. A black and red dress I haven't had an opportunity to wear yet with tights and boots and a little black cardigan or if it's sunny sandals.

LilianaVikavanovich · 22/04/2024 19:11

I’ve got a new summer dress , bright pink and white , quite floaty as I bought it for a holiday
I think there's some navy wedge sandals somewhere .
I have to hope for nice warm sunny day and hope it’s not too formal

Kalevala · 22/04/2024 19:41

TheFormidableMrsC · 22/04/2024 19:06

For a wedding?

I was only allowed my current wardrobe so I wouldn't have much choice but to wear my best clothes.

Kalevala · 22/04/2024 19:43

I'd look silly in my DS's suit and I don't own my own.

Kalevala · 22/04/2024 19:44

@TheFormidableMrsC
FFS I can read the question!

NahNeedsGarlic · 22/04/2024 20:22

A bright coloured linen trouser suit.
