Lots of women in their 40s wear All Stars. I love the stacked heel ones. And in leather too. They are great, will go with dresses, trousers etc etc.

Absolutely not too old. Wear what ever you like, at any age. I have several pairs of converse, they’re very versatile. The ones you linked with the thick soles are very comfy. Although I’d say get the canvas version if you want them for spring/summer.

The casual ageism on MN is depressing.

Wear whatever you feel great in - as judged by you in your mirror based on your own sense of style. Not the number of candles on your last birthday cake

Nope, in my 50s and wouldn't even think of it as too old for a minute for any age ..

I live in London and go out a lot and I have never seen anyone who looks over 40 wearing converse - apart fro me - hence the question - I look at everyone's shoes when out and about.

Why not reverse it and work from the perspective that you are the cool one and everyone else isn't!

That's what they'll think when they notice your shoes (if anyone gives them a second thought)

In my experience they are typically worn by the over 40s. Usually 50 plus. And in London also.

I'm 40 this year and love my converse. My boss in her 50s wears them. Lots of 40+ people I know wear them. I live in London also

I would say they’re a classic.

I'm in my 60s and have worn Converse for years as I find them comfy and they wear well. I also like the colours.
I do happen to own 'Hello Kitty' special edition ones atm and tend to think anyone who notices probably thinks I'm some sort of eccentric old bat, but as my American friend puts it so eloquently: 'Fuck 'em and feed 'em beans'
