If I hate wearing a bra, what do you recommend?

I absolutely loathe the feeling of wearing a bra but can't do without one; I don't think my colleagues would appreciate my saggy boobs and nipples showing though my tops.

I can't cope with anything wired. The best bras I've found are those T-shirt seamless ones which stop the nipples showing but without layers of padding, but I still find them uncomfortable. I've tried crop tops and vest tops too but not yet found anything that works sufficiently well as a bra.

Please don't suggest getting properly fitted- been there, done that so it's not a question of sizing, I know the correct size for me (38D)

I just want to be able to put on a bra which feels the least like wearing a bra possible, but which does the job!

I have this problem too, so, after 35 years of misery, I bought iron on patches in a soft material and ironed them on to a Uniqlo airism vest. It works if you iron two on top of each other for each breast!

I wear a bra for more formal occasions, or sporty things, but for everyday things it works with a loose enough blouse.

Nipple covers? Amazon and Primark

henlake7 · 01/04/2024 12:31

I hate wearing bras too, also a 32E so I do need a decent amount of support.
What works for me is getting crop tops or sports bras that are sized for the underband (so usually a small) and just smooshing my boobs in!
As long as you get styles that come up high enough under the arms and on the chest (and dont mind a uniboob!) then everything fits with no bulges.

I got a Sloggi Zero Feel recently and it's been pretty good. You /can/ feel it, but less so than my previous sports bra. I removed the padding, so I think it's less good for the nipple, but sometimes you can see the nipple point even through other bras (I've never worn padding). I'm not concerned about that, as it happens through men's shirts as well; it's more that I feel obliged to wear a bra and it maintains the 'wearing a bra' shape. But my breasts are smaller than yours.

Molk ones with the drawstring to give a bit of shape.

PeatandDieselfan · 01/04/2024 13:02

I loved wearing the handmade bras by Hiccups and Juice when I was pregnant and breastfeeding (she also makes normal bras as well as maternity/breastfeeding). I am about size 34 F and whilst I wouldn't do sports in these, I found them comfortable and supportive enough for everyday wear.

Sports bra perhaps?

Bar sleeping I hate not wearing one.

Xylophonics · 01/04/2024 13:15

Uniqlo sell tops with inbuilt 'bra bits'.

I mainly wear seamless crop top style bras , as the straps don't come off my shoulders which was the brain of my life.

Got these from m and s, but they've discontinued the one I liked.
Have recently discovered Sloggi, having tried on a couple of types , have bought one that is v comfortable. I'm a 36 DD and bought a 'Large'
and it fits well.

Gettingbysomehow · 01/04/2024 13:22

I'm 62 and a DD and I hate bras too - so uncomfortable. The best bra I have found to date that supports everything, gives a good shape but is a bralet is this one. I have one in every colour and wear nothing else.

62 years old that is not bra size.

Lemonade dolls

I would t buy from them. They use men to advertise their female underwear.

WeRateSquirrels · 01/04/2024 13:26

I like the Sloggi Zero Feel bralettes. There’s no separate piece of elastic in the band bit, so nothing to dig in.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 01/04/2024 13:45

I'm a 32GG/H and need all the support I can get. Would love a soft bralette but can't get anything in my size. I wear wired bras with stretch lace such as the Millie bra from Bravissimo and the Allure bra by Panache and they're supportive and soft.

lizzowhiz · 01/04/2024 13:50

Thanks for some good suggestions

@WeRateSquirrels I've had a look at those online before and they look super comfy; the only thing that put me off was they all seem to have removable pads, 'cookies'. I definitely don't want pads. Do you wear them with/ without the pads in? I'd want to be sure it's a comfy fit if I remove them.

I'm much the same.
I swear by Boody Padded bralette & the Sloggi zero feel push up bralette.

WhereAreWeNow · 01/04/2024 16:01

The Uniqlo non wired bras and built in support bra tops might be what you're looking for.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 01/04/2024 16:02

@667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast they look great... but once again, nothing in a 32GG/H 😢 Why do designers assume that if you've got a small back you can't have big boobs?

I've looked and looked for a bralette in my size. Cannot find one anywhere 😢

They go up to 32H this is the one I have , they have a completely different product listing for the smaller cup sizes I’m presuming the F to H style has wider straps or something.

And I have this one which goes up to 32H

I hear you about narrow back big boobs and so bloody expensive usually. Bravissimo are good but extremely expensive imo. Have you looked at Brastop ?

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 01/04/2024 16:26

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn meant to say they also have bralettes some pull on and some with ordinary bra fastening. I’ve not tried the latest pull on ones as I’m still wearing M&S Louisa bralette that they don’t stock any more.

Hagbard · 01/04/2024 16:33

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 01/04/2024 14:57

I have one of these in the F-H range in a 34G this is so comfortable I have slept in it! I think there is more choice on M &S of nicer stuff non wired if you’re under a DD cup. I get it looks like a granny bra but I don’t care spent too long suffering with horrible uncomfortable bras !

I was going to post this one. Comfiest brasserie I've ever owned

YourSnugHazelTraybake · 01/04/2024 16:33

Secret support vest tops. I'm quite big breasted and can wear them all day in perfect comfort. Can't say whether the m&s ones are good, but there's plenty of them out there .

@lizzowhiz I’ve only worn them with the pads in. There’s also a crop top version which might be good with the pads out?
