I'm stuck in my 3 colour Mac pallette. Light on lids, medium on crease , dark in corners and underneath. Is this now dated? How else do I do it?
Any guidance gratefully received!
I am thinking of just adopting the claudia winkleman approach and just smudging black round and hope for the best but then I see Trinny London stuff and it all looks glory and nice

Whenever I've gone into Space NK or Elys (department store) over the past few years, I've asked for or been suggested either a slightly shimmery shadow or a wash of colour. Light reflecting really.

You can do a smokey eye on older eyes but you really have to do it well to avoid it looking silly and emphasising the eyes to make them look older. What works for you as a teen/20s e.g. mine was smokey eyeshadow and the Brigitte Bardot eyeliner look doesn't tend to work as well 20 years on! I'm fairly lucky as my eyes aren't hooded and are also an almond shape but my eyebrows have got less defined with age and I have straight eyelashes which I hate curling (do it with mascara), I need to address both of these. My top tip though is also to get the under eye area sorted, right now I used Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer in Porcelain which is the best thing ever, and a Rimmel nude eyeliner in inner eyelid area to brighten. I also like L'Oreal Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara (because of smudging!) or a tubing one. You can even use the same concealer as a base for your eyeshadow. And I use, when I remember, Upcircle Caffeine Eye Cream which is amazing at depuffing, firms and protects, brightens the eye area and has hyaluronic acid to boost hydration.
