Casual trousers that aren't jeans!

I live in leggings or skinny jeans. I'm bored and need an alternative for spring/summer. What do you all wear day to day? School run etc?

Also I wear Birkenstocks with my linen trousers or a ballet pump. X

Noselikeabluetit · 27/03/2024 08:06

I just lived in casual dresses last summer, next do some lovely tunic sort of styles and light shirt dresses. Or what about linen like others said, they can be dresses up or down.

soupfiend · 27/03/2024 08:25

I cant bear this trend for cargo trousers, I really dont need extra bulk on my legs, they dont suit anyone in my opinion

Im currently looking at some trousers someone suggested on here from Next, chinos, but not to chinoy (because I dont like the baggyness of chinos round the stomach and hips)

tigerrabbit · 27/03/2024 13:06

I usually hate anything bulky on my legs as it rarely suits, but I bought 3 pairs of these and love them (EBay). Cheap as chips, generous cut (I sized down) and slim fitting on the legs .

(Ps it’s not me selling them! There’s loads of sellers doing them)

i got these last year after them being recommended on here. they are more trouser than jogger and are super comfy.

I have these in the 'soft green' colour and absolutely love them. I bought the pale blue as well but as is often the case with M&S they are a slightly different length and fit on me than the first pair 😐It's such a pain!

OooScotland · 27/03/2024 14:37

Wide leg (almost bags) jeans or linen trousers. I’m short and dumpy but I think they still look good. Sometimes ‘good’ and ‘flattering’ are not the same thing.

Mine are from Toast.

RosyappleA · 27/03/2024 14:59

Everlane trousers
These look amazing I just wish I had the body for them.

Isometimeswonder · 27/03/2024 15:09

Wide leg trousers with trainers when it's cooler. Or chunky sandals when it's warmer.
Jeans and boots in winter tho!

That's what my mother said to me in the late 1990s when I wore them. She might not have been right when I was 17, but now I'm in my 40s it's a very different story!

I have Lucy & Yak trousers, which have a lovely defined waist and fairly loose fit, but which also make my arse look enormous. I wear them anyway, and wear a lot of dresses in summer instead.

Ilovegoldies · 27/03/2024 16:46

Look at Halara. The future and quality is really good. I have the cords.

Majorsmiler · 27/03/2024 17:14

Don’t linen trousers crease like crazy? I always avoid that material

ISeeTrees · 27/03/2024 17:16

I'm having the same problem. Jeans/leggings feel too restrictive (even though they fit fine) and the fabric feels so rough against my skin. I think it's a sensory thing.

I tried those magic trousers that were all the rage but they feel rough too. So I'm stuck in leggings for now! Pleather for going "out" out. I find chinos almost too dressy for my lifestyle (school runs and 90% WFH).

I need to go to a proper shop so I can assess softness.. going to try next/m&s.

Frosty1000 · 27/03/2024 18:24

I was going to suggest magic trousers or currently I am wearing stretch trousers from Niche online.

WeightoftheWorld · 27/03/2024 18:35

I'm the same as you OP but I did recently buy a pair of khaki cargo pants from Next (the brand was 'In The Style' though I'd never heard of them before!). Don't think I've worn cargo pants since I was a teenager but I love them! Comfy and best thing about them is the tons of pockets! In winter I also sometimes wear dresses and tights or shorts with tights.

In summer I also wear various shorts, short dresses with cycling shorts or cropped leggings under, or maxi skirts too.

MorrisZapp · 27/03/2024 19:01

I like light as air harems or wide legs in summer, in a pretty print.

The further downmarket you go, the better. Matalan, Tescos etc. I pick them up in charity shops.

They look brilliant with my trusty faded denim jacket.

Hibernatalie · 27/03/2024 19:23

Halara cords

henlake7 · 27/03/2024 19:37

hmm, I might have to try Halara....I love me some cords!
Mostly I wear cargos, wide legged cords/jeans or parachute pants. They def suit me and my style better then other options.

Although TBF if Im just mooching about the house then its the trusty joggers and matching hoodie combo!

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 27/03/2024 19:47

I have a couple of pairs of cropped trousers. I wear ballet flats or my old sebagos.

I also have a pair of cotton loose jogger style trousers.

But if I'm around the house it's shorts or jeans.

Vetoncall · 27/03/2024 23:32

I live in these Lululemon Dance Studio when I'm not at work or the gym. I have them in black, grey, navy, light blue, army green and sage green, they go with everything. They're extremely flattering and comfortable and the material is really nice with the subtle pinstripe look.

They also come in a regular/adjustable leg style here, I have them in black and green but prefer the cuffed ones.

Ladyofthelake53 · 28/03/2024 01:16

Forgotten Tribes harem type pants, linen joggers or wide leg jeans

InTheTimeItTookMeToEatAnEggSandwich · 28/03/2024 08:12

@Workawayxx thank you, they are just what I’m looking for, I’ve ordered 2 pairs.

buttermymuffins · 31/03/2024 20:10

I have bought these in pale & dark denim. Super comfy, side zip & button so flat on the tummy & elastic waist at the back. Look great with trainers. I am short (5’ 2”) so got crop length & they sit on my ankle. 15% off at the mo. https://www.monsoon.co.uk/harper-regular-length-crop-jeans-blue-10005450101.html

Linen or cargo trousers with Birkenstocks or other sandals

Maxi dress with smart white trainers eg Vejas

Transitioning between seasons always seems to be tricky!
