I'm treating myself and I'm unsure which colour to go for in the Mulberry Zipper Bayswater.

I was between Black (classic!), tan (more versatile?) or oxblood (lovely, but is it all year round colour).

Second opinions very welcome! 🙂🙂

I have an oxblood and hardly ever use it. 😳 Maybe the tan?

MakemineaGandT · 06/01/2024 22:43

Tan would be the most versatile - it would work year-round and can be paired with black, navy, white etc etc

DramaAlpaca · 06/01/2024 22:46

I think the oxblood would be the best choice, it goes with everything and it's fine all year round. I have an oxblood Strathberry that I use a lot.

Disclaimer: I don't do black or tan bags, when it comes to handbags I'm all about colour.

Itsallthelittlethings · 06/01/2024 22:52

I have a tan and a black bayswater- not zipped. I use the tan about a million times more than the black.

PinkTonic · 06/01/2024 23:01

My oxblood mulberry is my most used bag. It’s as versatile as black or tan with my wardrobe and more interesting.

bendmeoverbackwards · 06/01/2024 23:30

Another vote for oxblood, it’s a great colour.

Which Strathberry do you have @DramaAlpaca ? I have a midi tote in Pearl grey which I love.

Sorry to derail thread OP!

I like the oxblood. I usually have a burgundy watch strap because it goes with everything - a bag in that colour would be great!

Moveoverdarlin · 07/01/2024 00:45

I’d go tan. Personally I wouldn’t wear Oxblood accessories in the spring or summer, it’s a very autumnal colour.

DramaAlpaca · 07/01/2024 01:00

@bendmeoverbackwards I am the proud owner of five gorgeous Strathberrys! The oxblood one is the midi tote mock croc.

Actually I think you're the poster I have to thank for my Strathberry obsession after you posted about them a while back. I love their understated look.

Sorry again for the derail, OP.

Vulcanodon · 07/01/2024 02:19

Tan is most versatile.

I’ve heard mulberry may be discontinuing the oxblood colour, so if you like it may be worth getting this while it’s still in stock.

RJnomore1 · 07/01/2024 02:24

I have an oxblood Tessa hobo and it goes with everything, I didn’t expect it but it’s a brilliant colour of bag.

Kitkatcatflap · 07/01/2024 03:53

One without a lock. I have two and both keys have come loose and fallen off. It's has happened to others as well. Pain in the arse as it has to be sent back to the factory which costs a bloody fortune - annoying when it's clearly a design fault.

barkymcbark · 07/01/2024 05:49

I've got an oxblood zipped Bayswater and I use it daily. I find it goes with most things. The only time I think about a different colour is in the height of summer, when I think about a yellow or red would be nice, but I still pull out the old faithful oxblood

Blaquamarina · 07/01/2024 07:53

I have an oxblood Alexa and it goes with everything. It is quite an autumnal colour, but it looks great with any outfit. So, my vote is for the oxblood.

SurreyisSunny · 07/01/2024 08:57

How lovely to be able to treat yourself.

With an investment piece I’d stick to the classic black. Goes with everything. For me tan is more spring summer but also lovely.

In my days pre DS I bought a few designer bags and still use them. The ones I use are black and navy. I bought a Chloe pale one in a sale once and hardly use it as the colour is not so versatile

Housewife2010 · 07/01/2024 08:59

I have an oxblood mulberry & love it in the autumn & winter, but It doesn't go with my summer clothes.

coolcahuna · 07/01/2024 09:17

I've got 2 mulberry, tan and black. I think the tan is more versatile and goes with more things. I am really hankering after an oxblood mulberry daria. So I would go oxblood or tan, not black.

Spirallingdownwards · 07/01/2024 09:26

Oxblood goes with everything. Tan and black do not.

I have a number of them including 2 different green, a mink, a black but 3 different Oxblood ones of varying sizes and they are definitely the most versatile

Blingismything · 07/01/2024 09:30

I personally love tan for bags. Mulberry is changing the name/shade of Oxblood to Black Cherry.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 07/01/2024 09:30

I have a black Bayswater, I wish I’d got the tan. The black went with my lifestyle at the time (dark suits, working in London), but doesn’t work with my more casual workplace now, whereas a tan would be a little less formal and work more now.

think what you’d use it for, what colour coats you have etc.

Chrysanthemum5 · 07/01/2024 09:35

I like the oxblood but as pp have said it depends on what you usually wear.

I got a Bayswater for my 40th and chose purple as I knew it would be the only mulberry I ever got and wanted an interesting colour. So I may not be the best person to ask Grin

LadyBird1973 · 07/01/2024 09:55

I have an oxblood mini kite and it really is a lovely colour, so I'd chose se it over black every time. Both are winter colours to me anyway.
In your particular bag, I do think the oxblood looks nicer.

LindaDawn · 07/01/2024 10:01

i have Oxblood. Would definitely choose again, no question about it! Nice to add a bit of colour.

TheWanderingWoman · 07/01/2024 10:08

I think the most versatile would probably be the tan because it would go with light or dark outfits.
