I spend most of the day with my hair tied up in a pony tail as it annoys me, especially when I haven't had chance to straighten it. Have been thinking of having it cut short.

Last time I did it was a few years ago and I always end up looking about 12.

I had it cut a while ago and it wasn't like the picture and was shorter than I was ecpecting so I figured this time I would grow it really long but....

Oh, I don't know!

What's your hair like, fine, thick, flyaway and what's your face shape?

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 12/03/2008 20:23

Thin but loads of it.

Dh says my face shape is oval.

post a pic! i'd love to chop all mine off

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 12/03/2008 20:28

God, I'm really ugly.

I usally hate hate hate short hair ,but I recon you'd really suit a blunt short bob, kinda POBish, longer at the front. Sooooooooo not ugly BTW!

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 12/03/2008 20:32

Really?

I didn't like Posh's new hair but maybe it would be nicer on me??

You're not ugly, I would have a haircut though, if it's done properly it will make you feel and look a million dollars.
I reckon a longish bob would be a good idea, I have a Natalie imbruglia style bob (not her face unfortunately, but my personality's fantastic) with a blunt fringe but it 's quite short. You could have a chin length one, it would give you a bit of sway iyswim.

LadyOfWaffle · 12/03/2008 20:35

love the colour too - I was thinking abit longer though, you know you can get that sort of bowl type cut? but more shaped - basically like that pic but abit longer... can't find a better pic!

southeastastra · 12/03/2008 20:36

lol you're not ugly at all! i think it would look nice short, but keep the top/fringe as it is. you have nice cheekbones

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 12/03/2008 20:38

OMG I love that!!

Showed hubby and he said Yuk!

I had a bob a few years ago and looked about 50. Went to a different salon next time and they said it looked frumpy.

I think the colour is very young though, with the reds ( I think?) You would really suit a blunt fringe too, sort of that 1920s/30s flapper thing. Not saying you're a flapper!

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 12/03/2008 20:40

That wouldn't work with my hair, I am sure.

Also I have a funny DA so it may be a bit too short.

My fringe tends to kink up too.

I have to say, on a personal note that I always feel better when my hairs that bit shorter, it makes me feel more confident and I find it doesn't (My hair at least) look as tatty as it does when it's long.
But if you're nervous, have a longer bob to start with, you can always have it cut shorter if the urge takes you, or grow it again without too much trouble if you really don't like it.

LOL at flapper!!

I have had red hair in the past and loved it!

Think you can 'younger' it with the trendy blunt longer (ish) fringe, and making sure it doesn't become a bob bob, keeping the longer feminine bits at the front.

LadyOfWaffle · 12/03/2008 20:42

I like a cross between 1st and second pic. What's DA?

southeastastra · 12/03/2008 20:43

i like your fringe as it is, you could always add some highlights to it to jazz it up a bit, then just shorten the back and sides. bobs are a pain to keep in shape ime.

A bob can look frumpy if it's not done properly. You need a hairdresser you can trust. If you see someone with a marvellous hairdo, accost them quick and ask who did it.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 12/03/2008 20:46

I know I am old but I don't want to look it too much!!!

OP posts:
rantinghousewife · 12/03/2008 20:47

Ahem, I think I'm older than you.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 12/03/2008 20:48

I have grey hairs!! Found them the other day. Don't mind about that but a bit shocked to find my first wrinkle on its way.

OP posts:
snowleopard · 12/03/2008 20:52

Maybe you want it short, but a bit longer/flicky and feathery at the sides so it's not so severe - I like waffle's pic but I'd have it a bit longer (and no you're not ugly - I think you'd really suit it). Some colour might jazz it up too.

Where are you? - I can recommend a great hairdresser for short hair in Edinburgh.

rantinghousewife · 12/03/2008 20:52

Ah wrinkle, schminkle! Tis the mark of a strong character, that's what I say!
