I spend most of the day with my hair tied up in a pony tail as it annoys me, especially when I haven't had chance to straighten it. Have been thinking of having it cut short.

Last time I did it was a few years ago and I always end up looking about 12.

I had it cut a while ago and it wasn't like the picture and was shorter than I was ecpecting so I figured this time I would grow it really long but....

Oh, I don't know!

That's not long hair.... it's just longer at the front, your hair can easily be styled similar to that, maybe not quite as long at front and not as short at back, therefore not as severe, dyswim?

I know! I am so excited but very hugely slightly scared too.

Most times I have had my hair cut short I have been in a stress about it and regretted it soon after and started growing it again. I keep thinking this is my last chance to have long hair as I am getting older but them why do I want long hair so much?
So I can hide behind it.

Well, NAB, I've been sitting on the front wall all day waiting for that Audi you promised me.
I have greys too, although probably a bit older than you. Loads of strange things happened to me the morning after my 40th birthday.
I keep a thinned-out fringe now to hide the forehead wrinkles and the ever-threatening monobrow. I keep the hair well past my chin to disguise any little stray chinnie-chin-chin hairs that may escape the tweezers. I don't have layers that end anywhere near my chin because I think it makes me look wider/jowly in that area. I stay well away from a really structured bob as I feel it makes me look like a brunette Pauline Fowler.
If I could I would grow my hair to below my chest so I could use it to disguise the saggy bosom.
You don't look old, I see no stray chin hairs, your forehead is not so Shar Pei, so good luck tomorrow.

Ha ha!!

I am 36 and felt it was too young for greys. I'm not fussed about them.

Have had a couple or 3 of chin hairs though. Fab.
