Can someone kindly recommend me some good soap bars to use daily? I use dove white color soap bar but feel it doesn't really clean.

I enjoy using https://islesoapco.com/

they are on the more luxury side though

I second Isle soaps. They smell beautiful.

Scottish Fine Soaps sea kelp bar

I love the huge soap bars in TK Maxx. They last for ages. They have a real variety of high quality soaps.

@popoppym12 - I'm sure I saw Cidal soap in Home Bargains if there's a store near you

Sgtmajormummy · 15/08/2023 23:29

L’Amande by l’Occitane is gorgeous but expensive. Their Vetiver scented soap is fresh and strong, maybe more masculine.

But now I have a green bathroom I just buy Palmolive in bulk and store it in my linen cupboard until it’s needed. Dried soap lasts longer in the shower.

Sgtmajormummy · 15/08/2023 23:34

Sorry, the second soap was Verbena by l’Occitane.

Dettoll soap!
Feel super clean after using it and it smells great too

Frenchbabynames · 15/08/2023 23:43

Their was a thread on this the other day and it's because Dove isn't actually soap. I wish I could remember the details but will look it up. I stick with Savon de Marseille as that's definitely soap. The stuff in supermarkets isn't always.

Dove has tried to give it a marketing spin on their website saying "it's not soap, it's a beauty bar", and trying to justify why that's EVEN better.

BlackForestCake · 16/08/2023 00:38

I think spending a lot of money on high end soap is a bit of a false economy tbh. I don't believe it gets you any cleaner.

I don't think anyone said it did, did they?

Nice soap is an affordable luxury, not a false economy.

I always use Pears green soap. Always feel so fresh and clean afterwards.

Love this thread, some gorgeous looking soaps to try.

I bought some wideye handmade soaps when I was in Brighton recently - really lovely and not as pricey as some- can order online.

Wideye Soap

I used to like Dettol Sensitive for an everyday one but it was an unlikely victim of the pandemic. Went from being stocked everywhere to just on Ocado.

BTW veggies/vegans watch out for Lidl's own brand soap, I was checking the ingredients the other day and it had tallow in.

@madeinmanc You can get it on Amazon, I use this too!

HenriettaLoveday · 05/08/2024 15:57

I bought a soap from Muck and Melt and it was literally the best soap I’ve ever used!

Lorrymum · 05/08/2024 16:02

Palmolive Green, it's the only soap that doesn't give me thrush.

BlackForestCake · 05/08/2024 16:08

SirChenjins · 15/08/2023 08:16

No, it smells nothing like the Dettol you use for disinfecting things! It smells fresh and a tiny bit lemony, it's really nice.

Looking forward to Zoflora and Domestos branded soap bars. They're missing a trick.

Cyclewidow46 · 11/12/2024 17:18

Another vote for the Pears green bar. It smells lovely, makes me feel really fresh and lasts for ages!

How do everyone manage to hold those great big bars of soap from TK Maxx? I’ve given up with them, they’re too difficult to grip - I tried cutting the bar with a knife but it didn’t work.

I have a soap net/ bag. Look on Amazon .

mdinbc · 11/12/2024 23:32

I like the LOccitane Verbena soap as well. Yes, it is a bit more expensive, but the bar lasts for ages and it doesn't get soft and soggy like cheap bar soaps.

I stock up, and cut the larger bars in half with a warmed knife. The trick is to use a thin blade, not a big butcher knife.
